A 3D analysis at the nanoscale has been used to characterize helium-3 nanobubbles in palladium powders aged several years under tritium assess their structural characteristics and spatial distribution. These are formed by radioactive decay exhibit diameters centered around 2.5 nm. Scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) acquire tomographic series on typical zones of macroscopic specime...
History has shown that it is not as easy one might think to differentiate between bulk nanobubbles and nanodroplets or nanoparticles. It generally detect colloids (i.e. something looks different, e.g. scatters light differently than its surrounding solvent), but less determine the nature of these colloids. This led misinterpretations in literature, where nanoparticles have mistakenly been assum...
Ultrasonic surface vibration at high frequencies (O(100 GHz)) can nucleate bubbles in a liquid within few nanometres from surface, but the underlying mechanism and role of wettability remain poorly understood. Here, we employ molecular simulations to study characterize this phenomenon, which call acoustothermal nucleation. We observe that nanobubbles on both hydrophilic hydrophobic surfaces, en...
Interfacial properties of helium nanobubbles in water at normal conditions have been investigated using large-scale molecular dynamics simulations for systems including over one million atoms. The surface tension of a helium nanobubble is a convex function with respect to the bubble radius, and is estimated to vanish at a critical radius of approximately 1 nm.
A novel type of 1D nanostructure with characteristics between those of a solid nanowire and a hollow nanotube, i.e. a peashell-like nanostructure comprising a 1D wire with periodically embedded hollow nanobubbles, is presented for the first time; as an example, MgO peashell-like nanostructures exhibit extraordinary dielectric and magnetization properties.
Radiation therapy can result in severe side-effects, including the development of radiation resistance. The aim of this study was to validate the use of oxygen nanobubble water to overcome resistance to radiation in cancer cell lines via the suppression of the hypoxia-inducible factor 1-α (HIF‑1α) subunit. Oxygen nanobubble water was created using a newly developed method to produce nanobubbles...
