In this work, we show that the eigenvalues of the problem  (∆2 + V (x) + λ)u(x) = 0 x ∈ Ω u(x) = ∆u(x) = 0 x ∈ ∂Ω are generically simple in the set of C4 regular regions of Rn, n ≥ 2. In fact, we prove that there exists a residual set of regions C4 diffeomorphic to a given Ω such that all the eigenvalues for a supported plate equation are simple.

We compute instanton corrections to correlators in the genus-zero topological subsector of a (0, 2) supersymmetric gauged linear sigma model with target space P × P, whose left-moving fermions couple to a deformation of the tangent bundle. We then deduce the theory’s chiral ring from these correlators, which reduces in the limit of zero deformation to the (2, 2) ring. Finally, we compare our re...

An ideal brake lining, which provides uniform and stable friction under all the operating conditions without any fade. The significance of material in handling earth moving machinery, commonly used earlier contained asbestos as base mainly because its property to resist deformation action heat generated due friction. This review focuses on analysis lining other materials for band application. m...

We study the Penrose limit about a null geodesic with 3 equal angular momenta in the recently obtained type IIB solution dual to an exactly marginal γ-deformation of N = 4 SYM. The resulting background has non-trivial NS 3-form flux as well as RR 5and 3-form fluxes. We quantise the light-cone Green-Schwarz action and show that it exhibits a continuum spectrum. We show that this is related to th...

The hysteresis or internal friction in the deformation of crystalline solids stressed cyclically is studied from the viewpoint of collective dislocation dynamics. Stress-controlled simulations of a dislocation dynamics model at various loading frequencies and amplitudes are performed to study the stress-strain rate hysteresis. The hysteresis loop areas exhibit a maximum at a characteristic freq...

We consider a classically chaotic system that is described by a Hamiltonian H(Q,P;x), where (Q,P) describes a particle moving inside a cavity, and x controls a deformation of the boundary. The quantum eigenstates of the system are /n(x)>. We describe how the parametric kernel P(n/m)=//(2), also known as the local density of states, evolves as a function of deltax=x-x(0). We illumi...

We describe crawling and jumping by a deformable robot. Locomotion over rough terrain has been achieved mainly by rigid body systems including crawlers and leg mechanisms. This paper presents an alternative method of moving over rough terrain, one that employs deformation. First, we describe the principle of crawling and jumping as performed through deformation of a robot body. Second, in a phy...

This work presents a method for deforming meshes in a shape-sensible way using Moving Least Squares (MLS) optimization. This work explains how an approach for deforming space [10] can be transformed into a skeleton-guided deformation scheme, where more sensitivity to the mesh geometry is achieved. Given a mesh and its skeleton, for each joint a minimization problem is solved subject to position...

Recent experimental developments have enabled the measurement of dynamical forces between two moving liquid drops in solution using an atomic force microscope (AFM). The drop sizes, interfacial tension, and approach velocities used in the experiments are in a regime where surface forces, hydrodynamics, and drop deformation are all significant. A detailed theoretical model of the experimental se...

In this work, we develop a cutting method for solving problems with moving and growing interfaces in 3D. This new method is able to resolve large displacement or deformation of immersed objects by combining the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method with only small local mesh deformation defined on the reference domain, that is decomposed into the macro-elements. The linear system of algebraic eq...
