The concept of a stare-mode astrometric space mission is introduced. The traditionally accepted mode of operation for a mapping astrometric space mission is that of a continuously scanning satellite, like the successful Hipparcos and planned Gaia missions. With the advent of astrometry missions mapping out stars to 20th magnitude, the stare-mode becomes competitive. A stare-mode of operation ha...

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to examine whether a persons' most frequently used mode of transportation is associated with life-space mobility and whether the association differs between persons with or without walking difficulties. METHOD Life-space mobility was measured with the Life-Space Assessment in 848 community-dwelling men and women aged 75 to 90 years. Six separate mobility gro...

This paper presents a new symbolic ATPG approach for stuck-at faults in speed-independent asynchronous circuits. A closed system is built by composing the circuit model and the specification. Then, a fault is injected in the circuit and the closed system is analyzed by symbolic model checking techniques. The fault is manifested if a discrepancy state is reached. A sequence of events to reproduc...

Mode-directed tabling is an extension to the tabling technique that supports the definition of mode operators for specifying how answers are inserted into the table space. In this paper, we focus our discussion on the efficient support for mode directed-tabling in the YapTab tabling system. We discuss 7 different mode operators and explain how we have extended and optimized YapTab’s table space...

We consider the model of a nondegenerate parametric oscillator, in the adiabatic limit of strongly damped pump mode, and find an exact analytic solution for the joint two-mode Wigner function in the steady-state regime. The one-mode Wigner functions for the individual signal and idler modes are derived as well. This gives an explicit and complete phase-space representation of this two-mode none...

By applying tensile local uniaxial strain on 5 nm of drain region and compressive local uniaxial strain on 2.5 nm of source and 2.5 nm of channel regions of graphene nanoribbon tunneling field-effect transistor (GNR-TFET), we propose a new bandgap-engineered (BE) GNR-TFET. Simulation of the suggested device is done based on non-equilibrium Green’s function (NEGF) method by a mode-space approach...

| We analyze di erent space-time architectures for the TDD mode of UTRA when employing multi-element antenna arrays at both the transmit and receive sites. We compare space-time codes that do not require channel knowledge at the transmitter with a beamforming scheme, which exploits channel reciprocity available in the TDD mode to construct a beamvector at the transmitter.

In this study, the detection of alpha particles in the high current mode is investigated in the presence of two gaseous electron multipliers in the micro-pattern structures. Thick Gas Electron Multiplier (TGEM) and an Electron Multiplier Assemblies (EMA) were designed and constructed as amplification gap in the detector chamber. An ion chamber is employed to measure the current of interaction b...

In the semi-classical approach to the Skyrme model, nuclei are approximated by quantum mechanical states on a finite-dimensional space of field configurations; in zero-mode quantization this space is generated by rotations and isorotations. Here, simulated annealing is used to find the axially symmetric Skyrme configuration which extremizes the zero-mode quantized energy for the nucleon.
