Circuits having various combinations of R, L and C are the building blocks for many important areas of study in electrical engineering and also used extensively in communication systems for design and development of filters and oscillators. Hence, effective simulation (or prediction) of such systems is imperative. This paper explores the ability of MATLAB/Simulink®1 to achieve this feat with re...

In this article, block BS methods are considered for the numerical solution of Volterra integro-differential equations (VIDEs). Convergence and stability properties are analyzed. A new Matlab code for the solution of VIDEs, called VIDEBS, is presented. Numerical results using a variable stepsize implementation show the effectiveness of the proposed code. 2014 Elsevier Inc. MATLAB has become the dominant high-level language for technical computing. However, MATLAB has significant shortcomings when used for large-scale computationally intensive applications that require very high performance and/or significant amounts of memory. In such contexts, it is common for MATLAB to be first used for prototyping the application, followed by re-implementation in Fortran or C,...

High-level, numerically oriented programming languages such as Matlab, Scilab or Octave are popular and well-established tools in the scientific and engineering communities. However, their computational efficiency sometimes limits their use in certain areas where intensive numerical computations are required, such as interval analysis. In this paper, we present an efficient implementation of th...

A finite-difference Micromagnetic simulation code in MATLAB is presented with Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) acceleration. The high performance of Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is demonstrated compared to a typical Central Processing Unit (CPU) based code. The speed-up of GPU to CPU is shown to be greater than 30 for problems with larger sizes on a mid-end GPU in single precision. The code is ...

This paper presents a method for system architecture modeling of an IR-UWB (Impulse Radio Ultra WideBand) receiver for sensors networks applications. We expose the way for designing an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) receiver starting from a previous study based on system modeling on Matlab. The proposed receiver architecture is first designed and validated on Matlab, before being implemen...

The very low frequency electromagnetic (VLFEM) technique is well established for rapid geological mapping and detection of buried conductive targets. The technique makes use of signal radiation from military navigation radio transmitters. There are about 42 global ground military communication transmitters operating in VLF frequency in the range of 15–30 kHz. These stations, located around the ...

This paper investigates the feasibility of integrating legacy software processes and tools into the paradigm of model-based development of industrial real-time embedded systems. Research has been conducted on the example of using legacy assembly code for automatic code generation scheme inside MATLAB/Simulink environment. A sample Simulink model has been presented, code has been generated from ...

The MIT Lincoln Laboratory Grid (LLGrid) team has developed pMatlab [3], a parallel MATLAB toolkit that makes parallel programming with MATLAB accessible and simple by using two partitioned global address space (PGAS) data types, parallel maps and distributed arrays. This enables pMatlab programmers to work in their familiar environment of numerical arrays and to parallelize their serial codes ...

The HPCchallenge benchmark suite has been released by the DARPA HPCS program to help define the performance boundaries of future Petascale computing systems. The suite is composed of several well known computational kernels (STREAM, Top500, FFT, and RandomAccess) that span high and low spatial and temporal locality. These kernels also encompass key aspects of embedded signal processing: vector ...
