We carry out simulations of a lattice London superconductor in a magnetic field B, with a finite magnetic penetration length λ. We find that superconducting coherence parallel to B persists into the vortex line liquid. We argue that the length scale relevant to this effect is Λ = φ0/8πTm. 74.60.Ge, 64.60-i, 74.40.+k Typeset using REVTEX

We carry out Monte Carlo simulations of the three dimensional (3D) lattice London superconductor in zero applied magnetic field, making a detailed finite size scaling analysis of the Meissner transition. We find that the magnetic penetration length l and the correlation length j scale as l , j , jtj2n , with n 0.66 6 0.03, consistent with ordinary 3D XY universality, nXY ø 2y3. Our results co...

The polar Kerr effect in the high-T_(c) superconductor YBa2Cu3O6+x was measured at zero magnetic field with high precision using a cyogenic Sagnac fiber interferometer. We observed nonzero Kerr rotations of order approximately 1 microrad appearing near the pseudogap temperature T(*) and marking what appears to be a true phase transition. Anomalous magnetic behavior in magnetic-field training of...

We introduce a finite element approximation of a variational formulation of Bean’s model for the physical configuration of an infinitely long cylindrical superconductor subject to a transverse magnetic field. We prove an error between the exact solution and the approximate solution for the current density and the magnetic field in appropriate norms of order h1/2 + ∆t. Numerical simulations for ...

In this paper I discuss the magnetic phases of the three-flavor color superconductor. These phases can take place at different field strengths in a highly dense quark system. Given that the best natural candidates for the realization of color superconductivity are the extremely dense cores of neutron stars, which typically have very large magnetic fields, the magnetic phases here discussed coul...

We use Josephson plasma resonance (JPR) and DC torque magnetization measurements to investigate the vortex structure and dynamics in the layered organic superconductor -(ET) Cu(NCS) . JPR studies probe the AC response of this extreme type-II superconductor for currents driven along the low conductivity axis. An observed crossover in the magnetic "eld and temperature dependence of the JPR freque...

We present a semiclassical nonlinear eld equation for the connning eld in 2+1{dimensional U (1) lattice gauge theory (compact QED). The equation is derived directly from the underlying microscopic quantum Hamiltonian by means of truncation. Its nonlinearities express the dynamic creation of magnetic monopole currents leading to the connnement of the electric eld between two static electric char...

The superconductivity at 39 K discovered in MgB2 among simple binary chemical composition attracted much interest in its fabrication techniques and practical applications [1]. MgB2 superconductor exhibits many impressive properties such as highest critical temperature amongst intermetallic superconductors which means low cooling costs, impressive grain boundary transparency to the flow of curre...

We present a model for the fully developed proximity effect in superconductor-ferromagnet heterostructures. Within the circuit-theory approximation, we evaluate the Green functions, the density of states, and the Josephson current which depend essentially on the magnetic configuration.

The new class of phenomena described in this review is based on the interaction between spatially separated, but closely located ferromagnets and superconductors, the so-called ferromagnet–superconductor hybrids (FSH). Typical FSH are: coupled uniform and textured ferromagnetic and superconducting films, magnetic dots over a superconducting film, magnetic nanowires in a superconducting matrix, ...
