We propose an extension to S-NET’s light-weight parallel execution layer (LPEL): dynamic migration of tasks between cores for improved load balancing and higher throughput of S-NET streaming networks. We sketch out the necessary implementation steps and empirically analyse the impact of task migration on a variety of S-NET applications.
This paper presents a biogeographic-based optimization (BBO) algorithm to solve Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problem with generator constraints in power plants. Biogeography is basically a science of geographical distribution of the biological species. The models of biogeography explain how an organism arises, immigrate from an environment to another and gets eliminated. This method is based on...
Cloud computing has given the new face to the distributed field. Two main issues are discussed in this paper, (I) “the process of finding the efficient virtual machine by using the concept of load balancing algorithm”. (II) “Reallocation of the Virtual Machines” i.e. migration of the Virtual Machines when cloud provider is not available with the required Virtual Machines. We have discussed abou...
Biogeography Based Optimization (BBO) algorithm is a population-based algorithm based on biogeography concept, which uses the idea of the migration strategy of animals or other spices for solving optimization problems. Biogeography Based Optimization algorithm has a simple procedure to find the optimal solution for the non-smooth and non-convex problems through the steps of migration and mutati...
Advantages and disadvantages of a dynamic load balancing algorithm which minimizes Euclidean norm of data migration are discussed. A new effective algorithm for a dynamic load balancing problem is suggested. The algorithm is based on a transport problem solving and searching for shortest ways in a graph. Experimental results for the algorithm are provided.
Conventional load balancing schemes are efficient at increasing the utilization of CPU, memory, and disk I/O resources in a Distributed environment. Most of the existing load-balancing schemes ignore network proximity and heterogeneity of nodes. Load balancing becomes more challenging as load variation is very large and the load on each server may change dramatically over time, by the time when...
Process migration means moving a process in the middle of its execution from one processor or host to another, for a variety of reasons. Usually, processes are migrated with the aim of balancing the work load across the cluster so that the capacity of underutilized nodes are also exploited. The idea of process migration is borne out of the fact that in the over whelming cases of non migratory s...
