we have investigated structure and electronic properties of au and si liner chains using the firstprinciplesplane wave pseudopotential method. the transport properties and conductance of these twoliner chains are studied using landauer approaches based on density functional theory (dft). weobtain density of states and band gap using kohn-sham and wannier functions as well as quantumconductivity...

Prosthetic gel liners are often prescribed for persons with lower-limb amputations to make the prosthetic socket more comfortable. However, their effects on residual limb pressures and gait characteristics have not been thoroughly explored. This study investigated the effects of gel liner thickness on peak socket pressures and gait patterns of persons with unilateral transtibial amputations. Pr...

When drilling an oil well, the well is lined by sinking a steel casing, or liner, into the drilling mud (see Figure 1). The inside of the liner forms a central pipe, and leaves an annular gap between the outside of the liner and the surrounding rock. The inside and outside of the liner are initially filled with drilling mud, which is displaced by pumping a sequence of fluids down inside the lin...

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To compare the microleakage in class II nanocomposite restorations without liner, with resin-modified glass ionomer liner and flowable composite liner. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty-six sound premolars extracted for orthodontic reasons were selected and randomly assigned into three groups of 12 teeth each (Group I, II and III). Class II cavities of specified dimensions were...

Aim: Gingival margins of posterior composite restorations is usually more apical compared to CEJ. The present study was aimed to determine the microleakage in gingival margins of Class II composite restorations through using three different types of resin cements as liners. Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro study, two mesial and distal Class II cavities with 1mm gingival margins were crea...

The interface between stump and liner (socket) is subject of high pressure in different moments of gait cycle due to loading variation in body movement. The liner is the interface between socket and skin along with soft tissue and bones in a cycling loading. The result is a friction effect combined with pressure that conduct to the heating of skin and liner. The effect is and increasing of pres...

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of a standardized silicone liner programme on the duration of prosthetic rehabilitation in patients who underwent transtibial amputation as a result of peripheral arterial disease. METHODS This retrospective study enrolled patients who underwent transtibial amputation followed by one of two stump management programmes at the same rehabilitation centre over ...

Prevention of damage to the teat and mastitis requires determination of the teat load caused by a collapsing liner. The aim of this study was to test a pressure-indicating film designed to measure the pressure between a collapsing liner and artificial teats. The Ultra Super Low and the Extreme Low pressure-indicating films were tested on two types of artificial teat. The experiments were perfor...

The significant costs insert on mineral processes due to mill liner wear including the labor costs, price of material and shut down periods. Therefore, the study of this phenomenon is economically important to optimize the mill operating conditions and liner profile design to decrease the wear rate. There is no appropriate and applicable research on impact wear evaluation of mill liners. In the...

A patient suffering from diabetes and a trans-tibial amputation presented with stump wounds caused by improper donning of the liner. His diminished hand function resulted in improper donning, with air being trapped between the liner and stump. This caused blisters on the skin after loading the prosthesis.
