Comparing measured and estimated count rates of a few selected sample stars, we connrm the validity and provide the in-ight calibration of the ROSAT HRI UV/Visible eeective area model in Zombeck et al. 1997, ApJ, 487, L69. The count rate estimates for Betelgeuse derived with this model are in agreement with the measured HRI upper limit. This result is also connrmed in an erratum by Berghh ofer ...

Discretisation errors in two-flavour lattice QCD with Wilson-quarks and DBW2 gauge action are investigated by comparing numerical simulation data at two values of the bare gauge coupling. Both non-zero and zero twisted mass values are considered. The results, including also data from simulations using the Wilson plaquette gauge action, are compared to next-to-leading order chiral perturbation t...

Recently we reported the formation of a quasiperiodic Cu thin film on the fivefold icosahedral Al-Pd-Mn quasicrystal using scanning tunneling microscopy, low energy electron diffraction, and Auger electron spectroscopy. Here we provide details pertaining to the growth, stability, and structure of this film. Structural information has been gained by LEED measurements carried out at 85 K. Cu atom...

We consider a general honest homogeneous continuous-time Markov process with restarts. The process is forced to restart from a given distribution at time moments generated by an independent Poisson process. The motivation to study such processes comes from modeling human and animal mobility patterns, restart processes in communication protocols, and from application of restarting random walks i...

This study was conducted to investigate the phenotypic diversity of 108 pure barley lines in Augment design with four controls in six blocks in the farm of Darab Agricultural Research Station (2020-2021). In order to select the best lines in terms of yield and other traits, SIIG index was used. The results of restricted maximum likelihood (REML) analysis showed that the lowest and highest level...

This research reports a feasibility study into multi-scale polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) modelling through the simulation of macroscopic flow in the multi-layered cell via 1D electrochemical modelling, and the simulation of microscopic flow in the cathode gas diffusion layer (GDL) via 3D single-phase multi-component lattice Boltzmann (SPMC-LB) modelling. The heterogeneous porous geometry...
