We establish an asymptotic representation formula for the steady state currents caused by internal corrosive parts of small Hausdorff measures. Based on this formula we design a non-iterative method of MUSIC (multiple signal classification) type for localizing the corrosive parts from voltage-to-current observations.

Psychophysiological studies with music have not examined what exactly in the music might be responsible for the observed physiological phenomena. The authors explored the relationships between 11 structural features of 16 musical excerpts and both self-reports of felt pleasantness and arousal and different physiological measures (respiration, skin conductance, heart rate). Overall, the relation...

Background. The Barcelona Music Reward Questionnaire (BMRQ) questionnaire investigates the main facets of music experience that could explain the variance observed in how people experience reward associated with music. Currently, only English and Spanish versions of this questionnaire are available. The objective of this study is to validate a French version of the BMRQ. Methods. The original B...

This study designed a measure to assess the perceived effectiveness of music as a strategy to regulate mood among a sport and exercise population. A strategy of assessing and comparing the integrity of competing hypotheses to explain the underlying factor structure of the scale was used. A 21-item Music Mood-Regulation Scale (MMRS) was developed to assess the extent to which participants used m...

When a 2D Fourier Transform is applied to piano roll plots which are often used in sequencer software, the resulting 2D graphic is a novel music visualization which reveals internal musical structure. This visualization converts the set of musical notes from the notation display in the piano roll plot to a display which shows structure over time and spectrum within a set musical time period. Th...

In his seminal paper, Gabrielsson (2002) distinguishes between emotion felt by the listener, here: "internal locus of emotion" (IL), and the emotion the music is expressing, here: "external locus of emotion" (EL). This paper tabulates 16 comparisons of felt versus expressed emotions in music published in the decade 2003-2012 consisting of 19 studies/experiments and provides some theoretical per...

A software application called “Musical Gene Pool” is described. It was designed to evolve non-linear music from an initial random soup of sounds, which play continuously. Most evolutionary music systems to date require the user to select for musical aspects in a piecemeal fashion, whereas this system is experienced as continuous music throughout the entire process, as follows: a human listener ...

Music is often experienced as a simultaneous progression of multiple streams of notes, or voices. The automatic separation of music into voices is complicated by the fact that music spans a voice-leading continuum ranging from monophonic, to homophonic, to polyphonic, often within the same work. We address this diversity by defining voice separation as the task of partitioning music into stream...
