There would appear sound evidence on which to incriminate sustained sympatho-adrenal hyperactivity as a deleterious factor of prime importance in hypovolaemic shock. The use of sympathomimetics in the treatment of shock of this type is irrational and deleterious. Their rational use in those few cases of clinical shock where they are indicated will have to await knowledge of plasma catecholamine...

The spontaneous rupture of an adrenal pheochromocytoma is an extremely rare event; however, it is potentially fatal. We report a case of spontaneous rupture of pheochromocytoma followed by an extensive retroperitoneal hematoma and hypovolemic shock. The correct diagnostic assessment determined the adequate surgical approach and a favorable outcome for the patient.

A 45-year-old alcoholic male patient presented with hypovolemic shock and intense anemia (Hemoglobin 04.7 g/dl), and was operated on. A bleeding retroperitoneal varix located near the right colon was responsible for the clinical picture and was sutured. Background The traditional sequence of trauma care: Airway, Breathing, Circulation (ABC) has been practiced for many years. It became the standard of care despite the lack of scientific evidence. We hypothesized that patients in hypovolemic shock would have comparable outcomes with initiation of bleeding treatment (transfusion) prior to intubation (CAB), compared to those patients treated with ...

We present two cases of Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES), a non-IgE mediated food hypersensitivity. FPIES induces severe vomiting 1.5-to-3 hours post ingestion of the offending food, and may be associated with diarrhoea, hypovolemic shock and acidosis. Avoidance of that food will lead to resolution of symptoms and prevents further episodes.
