Kikuchi’s lymphadenitis (KL), also called as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is a reactive condition of a lymph node which has a distinct clinical manifestation but unknown etiology. In most of the cases, it presents as a cervical lymphadenopathy mainly in young adults, especially women. It undergoes a self-limiting course within a few weeks to several months. However, unnecessary excisi...
A case of Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease is presented in the context of pyrexia of unknown origin. Although no specific etiology has been identified, several reported cases are associated with a variety of viruses, toxoplasma, or systemic lupus erythematosus. We present a case and discuss the implications for management.
Correlative microscopy approaches offer synergistic solutions to many research problems. One such combination, that has been studied in limited detail, is the use of atom probe tomography (APT) and transmission Kikuchi diffraction (TKD) on the same tip specimen. By combining these two powerful microscopy techniques, the microstructure of important engineering alloys can be studied in greater de...

Kikuchi’s disease or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis is uncommon disease that first time was recognized in Japan . The etiology of disease is unknown. Clinical features consist with unilateral cervical lymphadenopathy , often with upper respiratory prodrome and associated in some patients with fever . More cases occur in women , commonly under 40 years of ag...
We present a case of Kikuchi's disease causing meningitis associated with fever and treated successfully with corticosteroids alone. This is considered to be rare but provides an instructive example of how the diagnosis may be confused with that of tuberculous meningitis and highlights the importance of histopathological analysis.
The Kikuchi-Fujimoto is a rare, self-limiting disease, which is characterized by regional lymphadenopathy. It occurs worldwide with a higher prevalence among Asians and women below the age of forty years. We present 41-year-old Nigerian woman who was investigated extensively for unilateral left cervical lymphadenopathy. She was eventually diagnosed as having the Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease and was...
Endogenous endophthalmitis is a vision-threatening condition that results from hematogenous spread of infection to the eye, originating from a distant primary focus. It is considered as a rare entity that predominantly occurs in immune-compromised patients. We present a case of a critically ill immune-competent patient who underwent abdominal surgery later followed by nosocomial urosepsis compl...
Kikuchi's disease is usually a self limiting illness characterised by pyrexia, neutropenia, and cervical lymphadenopathy particularly in young women of Asian descent. This often leads to an initial misdiagnosis of lymphoma. A case of a young Asian woman who presented with pyrexia of unknown origin is described.
An outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) was detected in Singapore at the beginning of March 2003. The outbreak, initiated by a traveler to Hong Kong in late February 2003, led to sequential spread of SARS to three major acute care hospitals in Singapore. The critical factor in containing this outbreak was early detection and complete assessment of movements and follow-up of pati...
