Carbon dots were used as a reducing agent for the synthesis of Pd nanoparticles coated with ultrathin carbon dot shells of ca. 4 nm. The resulting composite nanoparticles showed high catalytic activity for the Heck and Suzuki coupling reactions.

A detailed investigation into the influence of phosphines, additives, bases and solvents on the Heck coupling reaction of 4-trifluoromethyl-1-chlorobenzene (2) is presented. It is shown that a number of catalyst systems exist for efficient cross coupling of electron-deficient aryl chlorides with various olefins. Basicity and steric demand of the ligand are two factors which determine the succes...

In this paper, the synthesis of a cheap, reusable and ligand-free Pd catalyst supported on MgAl layered double hydroxides (Pd/MgAl-LDHs) by co-precipitation and reduction methods is described. The catalyst was used in Heck reactions under high-speed ball milling (HSBM) conditions at room temperature. The effects of milling-ball size, milling-ball filling degree, reaction time, rotation speed an...

A novel chelate-controlled intermolecular oxidative Heck reaction is reported that proceeds with a wide range of nonresonance stabilized alpha-olefin substrates and organoboron reagents to afford internal olefin products in good yields and outstanding regio- and E: Z stereoselectivities. Pd-H isomerization, common in many Heck reactions, is not observed under these mild, oxidative conditions. T...

Metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions have developed into a standard component of the synthetic chemist’s toolbox [1–4]. These reactions date to thework ofUllmann and Goldberg in the early 1900s on copper-promoted C–C and C–heteroatom bond formations. Copper remained the catalyst of choice for these reactions until the pioneeringwork ofHeck, Suzuki, Stille, Negishi, and others on palladium-c...
