We examine the ΞQ-Ξ ′ Q mixing and heavy baryon masses in the heavy quark effective theory with the 1/mQ corrections. In the conventional baryon assignment, we obtain the mixing angle cos θ = 0.87 ± 0.03 in virtue of the GellMann−Okubo mass relation. On the other hand, if we adopt the new baryon assignment given by Falk, the allowed region of the Σc mass is upper from 2372MeV. The heavy quark e...

We discuss the quark transversity distribution function and a possible way to access it through the measurement of single spin azimuthal asymmetry in semiinclusive single pion electroproduction on a transversely polarized target. At leading order in 1/Q, the cross section for a hard scattering process is given by the convolution of a hard part and a soft part. The former describes the scatterin...

COMPASS is a new fixed target experiment at CERN to study the nucleon spin structure with a polarized muon beam and a polarized nucleon target. Gluon spin contribution to the nucleon spin will be studied by measuring the asymmetry of open charm production or high PT hadron pair production in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of a polarized muons on a polarized nucleon target. The COMPASS...

It is shown that the polarization of hyperons observed in high energy collisions using unpolarized hadron beams and unpolarized nucleon or nuclear targets is closely related to the left-right asymmetries observed in single spin inclusive hadron production processes. The relationship is most obvious for the production of the hyperons which have only one common valence quark with the projectile. ...

Here, P and S denote the parent hadron momentum and spin, and the relevant component of the quark momentum is x = p/P, the light-cone momentum fraction. The components a = a · n∓ stem from vectors n+ and n−, satisfying n2+ = n 2 − = 0 and n+ ·n− = 1, which are fixed by the momentum that introduces the large scaleQ, together with a (soft) hadron momentum. When only the leading part in orders of ...

Naturalness demands that the quadratic divergence of the one-loop top contribution to the Higgs mass be cancelled at a scale below 1 TeV. This can be achieved by introducing a fermionic (spin-1/2) top partner, as in, for example, Little Higgs models. In this paper, we study the phenomenology of a simple model realizing this mechanism. We present the current bounds on the model from precision el...

Abstract: The fully unintegrated, off-diagonal quark-quark correlator for a spin-1/2 hadron is parameterized in terms of so-called generalized parton correlation functions. Such objects, in particular, can be considered as mother distributions of generalized parton distributions on the one hand and transverse momentum dependent parton distributions on the other. Therefore, our study provides ne...
