Abscisic acid (ABA) plays a key role in the control of stomatal aperture by regulating ion channel activities and water exchanges across the plasma membrane of guard cells. Changes in cytoplasmic calcium content and activation of anion and outward-rectifying K(+) channels are among the earliest cellular responses to ABA in guard cells. In Arabidopsis suspension cells, we have demonstrated that ...

The ever increasing demand of the subscribers has put pressure on the capacity of wireless networks around the world. To utilize the scare resources, in the present paper we propose an optimal allocation scheme for an integrated wireless/cellular model with handoff priority and handoff guarantee services. The suggested algorithm optimally allocates the resources in each cell and dynamically adj...

In this paper we consider low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes for the classic bursty channel. We present lower bounds on the maximum resolvable erasure burst length, Lmax, for arbitrary LDPC codes and then present constructions for LDPC codes with good burst erasure correction performance for channels with and without the presence of noise in the guard band.

Protein phosphorylation and cytosolic-free [Ca2+] ([Ca2+]i) contribute to signalling cascades evoked by the water-stress hormone abscisic acid (ABA) that lead to stomatal closure in higher-plant leaves. ABA activates an inward-rectifying Ca2+ channel at the plasma membrane of stomatal guard cells, promoting Ca2+ entry by shifting the voltage-sensitivity of the channels. Because many of these ef...

-In this paper the performance of radio resource allocation in GSM/GPRS network is analyzed. A two dimension Markov chain is presented using guard channels for handover calls. Also priority is given on reservation of QoS of voice service by applying priority for voice calls to pre-empt GPRS data packets. Key-Words: GSM, GPRS, Networks.

The discovery of the START family of abscisic acid (ABA) receptors places these proteins at the front of a protein kinase/phosphatase signal cascade that promotes stomatal closure. The connection of these receptors to Ca(2+) signals evoked by ABA has proven more difficult to resolve, although it has been implicated by studies of the pyrbactin-insensitive pyr1/pyl1/pyl2/pyl4 quadruple mutant. On...

0163-6804/99/$10.00 © 1999 IEEE ith the increasing demands for mobile multimedia services, future wireless networks will adopt micro/picocellular architectures in order to provide the higher capacity needed to support broadband services under the limited radio spectrum [1]. Due to its flexible bandwidth allocation, efficient multiplexing of bursty traffic, and provision of a wide range of wirel...
