The defected ground structure (DGS) is one such technique which where intentionally modified to enhance the performance of the ground plane metal of a microstrip circuit. Importantly, in microwave application, the DGS plays an important role in analyzing the effect of surface and leaky waves. During the time of experimental analysis, the surface and leaky waves are affected by the propagation u...

After Fundulus heteroclitus have been for some time in the laboratory, under conditions favorable for growth, and after habituation of the fishes to the simple routine manipulations of the observational procedure required, they are found to give reproducible values of the mean critical flash illumination (I(m)) resulting in response to visual flicker. The measurements were made with equality of...

Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) is a parametric analysis method that has recently emerged in several different forms to estimate more thoroughly structural performance under seismic loads. It involves subjecting a structural model to one (or more) ground motion record(s), each scaled to multiple levels of intensity, thus producing one (or more) curve(s) of response parameterized versus inten...

We revisit the relation between fuzzball solutions and D1-brane-D5-brane microstates. A consequence of the fact that the R ground states (in the usual basis) are eigenstates of the R charge is that only neutral operators can have nonvanishing expectation values on these states. We compute the holographic 1-point functions of the fuzzball solutions and find that charged chiral primaries have non...

Understanding strong ground motions in the near-fault areas is important for seismic risk assessment in densely populated areas. In the past, lack of information on strong ground motion for large and moderate earthquakes led to the use of mainly far field large and moderate earthquake records in equations for calculation of the strong ground motion parameters. In this article, we collected and ...

in this paper, we give some characterizations for legendre spherical, legendre normal and legendre rectifying curves in the 3-dimensional sasakian space. furthermore, we show that legendre spherical curves are also legendre normal curves. in particular, we prove that the inverse of curvature of a legendre rectifying curve is a non-constant linear function of the arclength parameter.

Recently, concerning failure of structures due to earthquakes, special investigations of near fault ground motions have been noticed. Hence, in this paper, characteristics of near field ground motions have been considered in horizontal and vertical directions. In this consideration, the record averages have been compared with Uniform Building Code and Eurocode8 spectra in two levels. In additio...

Abstract General faults in regular electrical railways system could be detect by implementing the specific protection functions such as ground fault or sensitive earth fault. Otherwise, in ungrounded electrical railway systems which using both feeding and return contact rail at the same time, fault detection cannot done with above-mentioned function. Due to recent growth in electrical railway ...

The aim of this study was to determine the effects that soft tissue motion has on ground reaction forces, joint torques and joint reaction forces in drop landings. To this end a four body-segment wobbling mass model was developed to reproduce the vertical ground reaction force curve for the first 100 ms of landing. Particular attention was paid to the passive impact phase, while selecting most ...
