introduction: one class of magnetic nanoparticles is magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (mions) which has been widely offered because of their many advantages. because of extensive application of mions in biomedicine, before they can be used in vivo, their cytotoxicity must be investigated. therefore, there is an urgent need for understanding the potential risks associated with mions. materials ...

We report a facile synthesis of bifunctional Fe3O4-Ag(125)I heterodimers for use as dual-modality imaging agents in magnetic resonance (MR) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). We introduced (125)I, which is a clinically used radioisotope, as a SPECT reporter, into Fe3O4-Ag heterodimer nanoparticles to provide a new type of bifunctional contrast agent for MRI and SPECT imaging.

Silver nanoparticles integrated with a magnetic matrix such as Fe3O4 to form AgFe3O4 nanocomposites show some advantages in their applications as an antibacterial agent and heterogeneous catalyst. This material can be synthesized by a combination of electrochemical and reduction methods supported by ultrasonic route. The purposes of this study are to synthesize the nanocomposites by reduction m...

Effect of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticle concentration on the signal of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectra has been successfully observed. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles with a particle size of about 10.5 ± 0.2 nm were used as active materials to increase the SPR response. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern showed that Fe3O4 nanoparticles have a high degree of crystallinity with spinel structure. The S...

The photocatalysis of phenol was studied using Fe3O4/ZnO core/shell magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). The photocatalysts were synthesized by coating of ZnO onto the magnetite by precipitation method and characterized by XRD, SEM and FTIR measurements. Using the Taguchi method, this study analyzes the effect of parameters such as calcinations time, calcinations temperature and molar ratio of Fe3O4:...

We report herein an investigation into dynamic magnetic clustering that occurs during immunoassays as biofunctionalized magnetic nanoparticles (BMNs) become associated with biotargets. We measure the dynamic effective relaxation time τeff(t) and use scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to investigate the C-reactive protein (CRP) as it associates with the...

Superparamagnetic nanoparticles are promising candidates for gene delivery into mammalian somatic cells and may be useful for reproductive cloning using the somatic cell nuclear transfer technique. However, limited investigations of their potential applications in animal genetics and breeding, particularly multiple-gene delivery by magnetofection, have been performed. Here, we developed a stabl...

A facile synthesis of rose-like Pd-Fe3O4 nanocomposites via controlled thermal decomposition of Fe(CO)5 and reduction of Pd(OAc)2, followed by the immobilization of Au nanoparticles (NPs) onto the Pd-Fe3O4 supports, is reported. The morphology of these hybrid nanostructures could be easily controlled by varying the amount of Fe(CO)5 and the reaction temperature. Moreover, the synthesized Au/Pd-...

Multifunctional silica nano-vehicles (SiO2@indol-IL) and magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@indol-IL) were constructed through the Schiff bases condensation of indole-3-carboxaldehyde and 4-acetyl-N-allyl pyridinium chloride (ILs) with the amine groups of silica and magnetic nanoparticles. SiO2@indol-IL can inhibit the proliferation of HepG-2 cells in 48 h. Fe3O4@indol-IL can mimic the function of c...
