String matching is the problem of finding all the occurrences of a pattern in a text. We propose a very fast new family of string matching algorithms based on hashing q-grams. The new algorithms are the fastest on many cases, in particular, on small size alphabets. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
An algorithm is presented which finds all occurrences of one. given string within another, in running time proportional to the sum of the lengths of the strings. The constant of proportionality is low enough to make this algorithm of practical use, and the procedure can also be extended to deal with some more general pattern-matching problems. A theoretical application of the algorithm shows th...
An O(log log m) time n log m log logm-processor CRCW-PRAM algorithm for the string preex-matching problem over a general alphabet is presented. The algorithm can also be used to compute the KMP failure function in O(log log m) time on m log m loglog m processors. These results improve on the running time of the best previous algorithm for both problems, which was O(log m), while preserving the ...

Stereo matching is important in the area of computer vision and photogrammetry. This paper presents a fast stereo matching algorithm which produces a dense disparity map by using a pyramid structure, fast correlation and dynamic programming techniques. Fast correlation is achieved by using the box filtering technique which is invariant to the size of the correlation window. The disparity for ea...
In this paper, we propose a fast algorithm for speeding up the process of template matching that uses M-estimators for dealing with outliers. We propose a particular image hierarchy called the p-pyramid that can be exploited to generate a list of ascending lower bounds of the minimal matching errors when a non-decreasing robust error measure is adopted. Then, the set of lower bounds can be used...
