The effects of irradiation with 17 MeV electron beams and “‘Co y-rays on the magnetic flux of Nd-Fe-B and Sm-Co permanent magnets have been studied. At an electron dose of 2.1 X 10d3 C/cm’ (at an absorbed dose of 2.6 MGy), the magnetic flux loss of Nd-Fe-B is 9%, while the flux loss of Sm-Co is below 0.4% at a dose of 1.4 X 10B3 C/cm’. After remagnetization of the irradiated Nd-Fe-B sample the ...

Abstract Introduction: Foodborne parasitic diseases are considered common in most parts of the world, which can cause significant health problems. Linguatula serrata is a zoonotic parasite causing human linguatulosis due to consumption of raw and semi-cooked animal offal infected with nymphs of this parasite. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to determine the effect of Electron...

The electron beam energy is one of the critical parameters of electron accelerators since it can affect the dose distribution inside the body or in products to be irradiated with a beam of energetic electrons. A device has been developed for monitoring small variations in the electron beam energy that is easy-to-use during an irradiation run. It involves measurement of currents (or charges) col...

Background: A dressing often covers the wound to accelerate its healing. Hydrocolloid-type dressing to give better conditions for healing has been developed consisting of gelatin, pectin, water and hydrophilic polymer which promote healing. In recent years, much attention has been focused on the research and development of polymer hydrogels as biomaterials, such as contact lenses, wound dressin...

We studied the effects of low-energy electron beam irradiation up to 10 keV on graphene-based field effect transistors. We fabricated metallic bilayer electrodes to contact mono- and bi-layer graphene flakes on SiO₂, obtaining specific contact resistivity ρ c ≈ 19 k Ω · µ m 2 and carrier mobility as high as 4000 cm²·V-1·s-1. By using a highly doped p-Si/SiO₂ substrate as the back gate, we analy...

The technology for medical needle deburring and sharpening in mass-scale production was developed. The technology is based on the combined application of the high current microsecond electron beam irradiation and the ion sputtering in the low pressure glow discharge plasma with hollow cathode. As a result of the electron beam irradiation deburring and surface smoothening occur. Shape modificati...

The purpose of this study was to compare the dosimetric properties of small field electron beams shaped by circular Cerrobend blocks and stainless steel tubular applicators. Percentage depth dose curves, beam profiles, and output factors of small-size circular fields from 2 to 5 cm diameter, obtained either by tubular applicators and Cerrobend blocks, were measured for 6, 10, and 15 MeV electro...

In order to overcome the limitation of commercial electron beam irradiation (EBI), lignocellulosic rice straw (RS) was pretreated using water soaking-based electron beam irradiation (WEBI). This environment-friendly pretreatment, without the formation (or release) of inhibitory compounds (especially hydroxymethylfurfural and furfural), significantly increased the enzymatic hydrolysis and fermen...

Over the course of the last decade, routine monitoring of the alanine dosimetry system revealed a small but significant observation that, after examination, led to the characterization of a previously unknown absorbed-dose-dependent, dose-rate effect for the alanine system. The newly discovered rate effect is of potential concern for electron-beam dosimetry, since electron-beam dosimetry typica...
