Scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM) was proven to be a prospective microfabrication method for the in situ synthesis and multiscale assembly of functional nanomaterials into microdevices. Nanostructured ZnO thin film was synthesized and assembled by SECCM, which has excellent electrochemical capacitance and electronic I-V properties.

The synthesis of boron subphthalocyanines (BsubPc) from modified phthalonitriles is reported. The BsubPcs have intense red-shifted absorption compared to normal BsubPcs and readily tuneable optoelectronic properties including enhanced electrochemical stability and the presence of up to two reversible electrochemical reductions.

The acid treatment of a ruthenabenzene yielded an unusual dialdehyde. Interestingly, this dialdehyde has notable anti-oxidative properties and resists even nitric acid. This stability is confirmed by chemical and electrochemical experiments. Highly dense arrays of ordered and aligned nanorods of polyaniline with 10 nm diameter on transparent ITO substrate have been successfully fabricated using supramolecular assemblies of block copolymer as scaffold material; the ordered arrays of polyaniline nanorods so fabricated were found to exhibit excellent electrochemical properties with an electrochemical capacitance value of 3407 F g(-1).
