We measure the gradient diffusion coefficient of a model lipopolymer in supported lipid bilayer membranes from Fourier-transform post-electrophoresis relaxation. The experiments and accompanying quantitative interpretation furnish the concentration dependence of the gradient diffusion coefficient. In striking contrast to the recent measurements of the self-diffusion coefficient from fluorescenc...
the molecular sieves are selective adsorbents. they can adsorb some kind of molecules that are different in size or shape from the others. in separation of n-paraffins from iso-paraffins and aromatics, sa molecular sieve is the suitable adsorbent, and can adsorb n-paraffins to separate them from other hydrocarbons. in this paper equilibrium isotherms of n-cs, n-c6 and n-c7 from an inert solvent...
We have utilized 2D material point method (MPM) to study the influence of nanoparticles on the diffusivity of penentrants in model polymer membranes comprised of impenetrable spherical nanoparticles dispersed in a matrix with uniform penetrant solubility and diffusivity. The polymer membrane near the surface of a nanoparticle exhibits enhanced penetrant diffusion relative to that of the bulk po...
We report a study on particle diffusion in membranes formed from polystyrene-block-poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (PS-b-PDMAEMA) diblock copolymers. The membranes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and by single-particle tracking employing carboxy-functionalized polystyrene beads loaded with a fluorophore as spectroscopic probes. From the diffusion trajectories we extr...
the aim of this study was to investigate the rate of water vapor permeability (wvp) and moisture sorption of starch-montmorillonite (mmt) nanocomposite films. the nanocomposite films were prepared using the casting method andglycerol was used as a plasticizer. the effect of glycerol concentration on wvp of the films was determined at 25°c with a relative humidity of 0-99% (inside and outside of...
We present a general algorithm for computing the effective diffusion coefficient of a general class of biomolecular transport processes. The method can be applied to spatially discrete and continuous processes and takes into account the effects of thermal diffusion and chemical kinetics. To provide an illustration of the algorithm, the problem of protein translocation is considered.
The effective diffusion coefficient for the overdamped Brownian motion in a tilted periodic potential is calculated in closed analytical form. Universality classes and scaling properties for weak thermal noise are identified near the threshold tilt where deterministic running solutions set in. In this regime the diffusion may be greatly enhanced, as compared to free thermal diffusion with, for ...
