I explore various ways of integrating the framework for predeterminism, agency, and ability in [P. McNamara, Nordic J. Philos. Logic 5 (2) (2000) 135] with a framework for obligations. However, the agential obligation operator explored here is defined in terms of a non-agential yet personal obligation operator and a non-deontic (and non-normal) agency operator. This is contrary to the main curr...
Abstract Health institutions recommend that young infants be exclusively breastfed on demand, and it is widely held parents who can breastfeed have an obligation to do so. This has been challenged in recent philosophical work, especially by Fiona Woollard. Woollard’s work critically engages with two distinct views of parental might ground such obligation—based maximal benefit avoidance signific...
Ethical considerations from both the clinical and public health perspectives have been used to examine whether it is ethically permissible to mandate the seasonal influenza vaccine for healthcare workers (HCWs). As a case study, we discuss the Renewables Obligation (RO), a control mechanism that was introduced in the United Kingdom to stimulate the production of renewable energy. We apply a conceptual model based on normative multiagent systems (NMAS). We propose to model both the participants and the normative system as autonomous agent...

The current study aimed to analyse the effect of caregiving obligation (beliefs regarding obligation and social pressure) on depression, and the mediating effects o...
In this paper we define a new family of rules in minimum cost spanning tree problems related with Kruskal’s algorithm. We characterize this family with a cost monotonicity property and a cost additivity property. Adding the property of core selection (or separability) to the previous characterization, we obtain the family of obligation rules defined in Tijs et al (2006).
The study found that although nature of obligation of the owners of medical and dependent careers to the jurists did not mansion explicitly, this issue is clear.
