A new method to identify the gluon jet in 3-jet " Y " decays of Z 0 is presented. The method is based on differences in particle multiplicity between quark jets and gluon jets, and is more effective than tagging by leptonic decay. An experimental test of the method and its application to a study of the " string effect " are proposed. Various jet-finding schemes for 3-jet events are compared.

We calculate the radiative corrections to the nonleptonic inclusive B decay mode b → cūd taking into account the charm quark mass. Compared to the massless case, corrections resulting from a nonvanishing c quark mass increase the nonleptonic rate by (4–8)%, depending on the renormalization point. Using data from the FOCUS (E831) experiment at Fermilab, we present a new measurement for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay modeD0 → K+K−π+π−. We measure: Γ(D0 → K+K−π+π−)/Γ(D0 → K−π−π+π+) = 0.0295 ± 0.0011 ± 0.0008 . An amplitude analysis has been performed in order to determine the resonant substructure of this decay mode.
