The purpose of the study was to determine comparability of an online version to the original paper-pencil version of Defining Issues Test 2 (DIT2). This study employed methods from both Classical Test Theory (CTT) and Item Response Theory (IRT). Findings from CTT analyses supported the reliability and discriminant validity of both versions. Findings from IRT analyses confirmed that both version...

IRT-based models with a general ability and several specific ability dimensions are useful. Studies have looked at item response models where the general and specific ability dimensions form a hierarchical structure. It is also possible that the general and specific abilities directly underlie all test items. A multidimensional IRT model with such an additive structure is proposed under the Bay...

For the personalized learning, a good testing method, which can effectively estimate a learner’s proficiency, is required. In this paper, we propose a novel testing method, Bayesian network-based approach to Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT). Our novel approach can estimate proficiency of the examinee effectively and efficiently because it reflects complicated relationships between all items ...

This paper describes procedures for estimating single-administration classification consistency and accuracy indices using item response theory (IRT). This IRT approach is applied to real test data comprised of mixtures of dichotomous and polytomous items. Several different IRT model mixtures are considered. Comparisons are made between the IRT approach and two non-IRT procedures.

In spite of the growing popularity of the item response theory (IRT), classical item analysis (CIA) is still frequently employed by psychometricians and teachers for its conceptual and computational simplicity. This article will introduce how SAS can be applied to CIA such as computing p-values, discriminations, point biserial correlations, and logits. In addition, option analysis, which is hel...
