In this paper, a comprehensive study is presented on the effect of beam's length, shear deformation and beam's theory on the dynamic modeling of single-link flexible manipulator. At the first step, Euler-Bernoulli beams theory (EBBT) is adopted. According to this model the effect of shear deformation is neglected. So, this model is only reliable for the case of slender beam. When the beam is sh...

A system of serially connected string and Euler-Bernoulli beam with coupled linear feedback control and sliding model control is studied in the present paper. The system is formulated by partial differential equations with the boundary conditions. The eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the system operator are discussed in the appropriate Hilbert spaces. A sliding model control is applied to the ...

In this paper, we consider parameter estimation techniques for detecting changes of a nonlinear nature in an Euler-Bernoulli beam model. The nonlinear stiiness used provides a very simple model of damage, and the adaptive estimation algorithm is used to track the onset of the nonlinearity. Using Lyapunov redesign methods, extended and applied to innnite dimensional systems, a stable learning sc...

in this article, vibration analysis of an euler-bernoulli beam resting on a pasternak-type foundation is studied. the governing equation is solved by using a spectral finite element model (sfem). the solution involves calculating wave and time responses of the beam. the fast fourier transform function is used for temporal discretization of the governing partial differential equation into a set ...

In this study, the computational model is updated using an analytical instead of experimental one. Continuous and discrete parameter models a Euler–Bernoulli beam are constructed analytically computationally. To construct models, Ansys™ software employed, 1-D elements chosen to get finite element cantilever beam. solutions for continuous state-space representation employed. first step, only mas...

How much do model errors influence the closed loop performance? This question is investigated for the control problem of designing active damping of vibrations in a viscoelastic cantilever beam. The beam is physically modeled using Fourier transformed Euler-Bernoulli beam equations. For control design the standard LQG technique is employed, and two different finite order models are used. One is...

Recently, a large amount of studies have been related to nonlinear systems with multi-degrees of freedom as well as continuous systems. The purpose of this paper is to optimize passive vibration absorbers in linear and nonlinear states for an Euler-Bernoulli beam with a nonlinear vibratory behavior under concentrated moving load. The goal parameter in the optimization is maximum deflection of t...

The equilibrium position of an Euler-Bernoulli beam is investigated. Using the discrete Euler-Lagrange and Lagrange-d’Alembert principles, the behavior of the beam is simulated using variational integrators and, in particular, AVIs (Asynchronous Variational Integrators). Special emphasis is placed on the discrete mechanics and geometric structure underlying stress resultant beam models.

The earliest example of bifurcation is the buckling of of an elastic beam. In engineering, buckling is a failure mode characterized by a sudden failure of a structure subjected to high compressive stresses, where the actual compressive stresses at failure are greater than the ultimate compressive stresses that the material is capable of withstanding. This mode of failure is also described as fa...
