animal models are used to model the observations of animal performance that are genetically dependent.these models are considered as generalized linear mixed models and the genetic correlation structure of data is considered through random effects of breeding values. one goal of the mentioned models is to estimate variance components. in this research, an approximate bayesian approach presented...

Prediction of remaining useful life of a system is important for safety and maintenance scheduling. In the physics-based prognostics, the accuracy of predicted remaining useful life is directly related to that of estimated model parameters. It, however, is not a simple task to estimate the model parameters because most real systems have multivariate model parameters, which are often correlated ...

This paper provides a brief introduction to learning Bayesian networks from gene-expression data. The method is contrasted with other approaches to the reverse engineering of biochemical networks, and the Bayesian learning paradigm is briefly described. The article demonstrates an application to a simple synthetic toy problem and evaluates the inference performance in terms of ROC (receiver ope...

Bayesian methods allow for a simple and intuitive representation of the function spaces used by kernel methods. This chapter describes the basic principles of Gaussian Processes, their implementation and their connection to other kernel-based Bayesian estimation methods, such as the Relevance Vector Machine.

In this paper we provide a simple random-variable example of inconsistent information, and analyze it using three different approaches: Bayesian, quantum-like, and negative probabilities. We then show that, at least for this particular example, both the Bayesian and the quantum-like approaches have less normative power than the negative probabilities one.
