Abstract: Neurotoxic organotin reagents currently play a key role in radical chemistry. As a result, this is an important area for development of new clean replacement reactions. The pharmaceutical industry in particular has had to avoid use of radical methodology for the formation of carbon–carbon bonds for this reason. With the current dawn in green chemistry, a host of new clean radical meth...

A method of synthesis of pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepines is described. This method is based on the recyclization of N-(furfuryl)anthranilamides under treatment with an aq. HCl/AcOH system and allows one to form both diazepine and pyrrole rings in one step. The reaction proceeds via furan ring opening into a diketone moiety followed by consecutive interaction of the NH(2)-group with both carb...

Palladium-catalyzed synthesis of nitriles from amides has been described. Two similar, but complementary reaction conditions have been identified to convert various amides including α,β,γ,δ-unsaturated amides, cinnamides, aromatic amides and alkyl amides to the corresponding nitriles in good to excellent yield.

Aryl ketones are important structural motifs found in natural products, medicinally relevantmolecules, and functionalmaterials. In particular, 1,2-diacylbenzenes are known to be crucial synthetic precursors to construct a wide range of biologically active compounds including phthalazines, phthalimidines, isobenzofuranes, indanones, isoindoles, and isoindolines. These facts have led to increasin...

The internal strain in cyclic amides are explained as a factor of resonance that are effected on the bond length C-N  and are a major factor of rates of hydrolysis. The cyclic amides in this study are optimized by Gaussian program and the bond length of C-N in the rings are studied by HF/6-31G*.

Mouse mammary glands in whole organ culture, previously demonstrated by others to undergo lobuloalveolar develop ment, functional differentiation, and glandular involution, are transformable by carcinogenic aryl amines and amides and their derivatives. The transformation, which involves an escape from the hormonal controls of these processes, results in the formation of nodule-like alveolar les...
