The epiphyte Pantoea agglomerans 48b/90 (Pa48b) is a promising biocontrol strain against economically important bacterial pathogens such as Erwinia amylovora. Strain Pa48b produces the broad-spectrum antibiotic 2-amino-3-(oxirane-2,3-dicarboxamido)-propanoyl-valine (APV) in a temperature-dependent manner. An APV-negative mutant still suppressed the E. amylovora population and fire blight diseas...

We explore phenomenologies of the topflavour model for the LEP experiment at m Z scale and the atomic parity violation (APV) experiment in the C s atoms at low energies. Implications of the model on the Z peak data are studied in terms of the precision variables ǫ i 's. We find that the LEP data give more stringent constraints on the model parameters than the APV data.

We propose to measure the parity violating (PV) asymmetry in H deep inelastic scattering (DIS) at and (GeV/ ) at . The measurements will constrain the poorly known effective coupling constant combination ( ). Assuming the Standard Model values of "! ! $# , (tested separately by combining the Cs atomic parity violation (APV) experiments and the future Qweak experiment), the expected uncertainty is

Molecular dynamics simulations are performed to investigate the dynamic properties of wild-type HIV-1 protease and its two multi-drug-resistant variants (Flap + (L10I/G48V/I54V/V82A) and Act (V82T/I84V)) as well as their binding with APV and DRV inhibitors. The hydrophobic interactions between flap and 80 s (80's) loop residues (mainly I50-I84' and I50'-I84) play an important role in maintainin...

We have detected, by using stimulated emission, an atomic parity violation (APV) in the form of a chiral optical gain of a cesium vapor on the 7S-6P(3/2) transition, consecutive to linearly polarized 6S-7S excitation. We demonstrate the validity of this detection method of APV, by presenting a 9% accurate measurement of expected sign and magnitude. We stress several advantages of this new appro...

We report the most precise measurement to date of a parity-violating asymmetry in elastic electron–proton scattering. The measurement was carried out with a beam energy of 3.03 GeV and a scattering angle 〈θlab〉 = 6.0◦, with the result APV = (−1.14±0.24(stat)±0.06(syst))×10−6. From this we extract, at Q2 = 0.099 GeV2, the strange form factor combination G E +0.080Gs M = 0.030±0.025(stat)±0.006(s...

We studied circuit activities in layer IV of rat somatosensory barrel cortex containing microgyri induced by neonatal freeze lesions. Structural abnormalities in GABAergic interneurons are present in the epileptogenic paramicrogyral area (PMG) and we therefore tested the hypothesis that decreased postsynaptic inhibition within barrel microcircuits occurs in the PMG and contributes to epileptoge...

Adolescent-to-parent violence (APV) has received little attention in the social work literature, although it is known to be a factor in families whose children are at risk of entry to care. The behaviour patterns that characterise APV include coercive control, domination and intimidation. Crucially, parental behaviours are compromised by fear of violence. This article discusses the unexpected f...
