Cells moving collectively in tissues constitute a form of active matter, in which collective motion depends strongly on driven fluctuations at the single-cell scale. Fluctuations in cell area and number density are often seen in monolayers, yet their role in collective migration is not known. Here we study density fluctuations at the single- and multicell level, finding that single-cell volumes...

The generation of large-scale zonal flows by small-scale electrostatic drift waves in electron temperature gradient(ETG) driven turbulence model is considered. The generation mechanism is based on the modulational instability of a finite amplitude monochromatic drift wave. The threshold and growth rate of the instability as well as the optimal spatial scale of zonal flow are obtained.

purpose : to determine the fusional amplitudes and the frequency of hetrophoria, in our patients methods : in this cross sectional study, 111 adults with mean age of 25.6 years were included. all participants had best corrected visual acuity (bcva) better than 20/25, more than 60 sec of arc stereopsis and had no heterotropia or other significant eye disorders. fusional amplitudes were measured ...

Voice Activity Detection (VAD) is a crucial step for speech processing, which detecting accuracy and speed directly affects the effect of subsequent processing. Some voice processing system based phone or in the indoor environment, which need simple and quick method of VAD, for these representative voice signal, this paper proposes a new algorithm which is adaptive and quick based on a major im...

We report measurements of Aharonov-Bohm oscillations in normal metal rings in the presence of highfrequency electromagnetic fields. The power dependence of the decoherence time scale P agrees well with the anticipated power law P −1/5 when the field-induced decoherence rate ac −1 is large compared to the intrinsic decoherence rate o , measured in the absence of external fields. As theoretically...

Isotropic and homogeneous turbulence driven by an energy input modulated in time is studied within a variable range mean-field theory. The response of the system, observed in the second-order moment of the large-scale velocity difference D(L,t)=<<(u(x+L)-u(x))(2)>> proportional, variant Re(2)(t), is calculated for varying modulation frequencies omega and weak modulation amplitudes. For low freq...

the output on the amplitude of the input in a series of simulations, which showed that the peak and the plateau values of the response are nonlinear monotonic increasing functions of J and nonlinear monotonic decreasing functions of I. Together, these results suggest that the circuit encodes the contrast rather than the absolute amplitude of the input. Fig. 3 shows that the peak and the plateau...

We find that the amplitude of quantum fluctuations of the invariant de Sitter vacuum coincides exactly with that of the vacuum of a comoving observer for a massless scalar (inflaton) field. We propose redefining the actual physical power spectrum as the difference between the amplitudes of the above vacua. An inertial particle detector continues to observe the Gibbons-Hawking temperature. Howev...

To estimate the impact of electromagnetic disturbances on multi-carrier wireless systems, a method for converting an amplitude probability distribution (APD) of disturbance measured at a frequency to be valid for another frequency is presented. The conversion uses two parameters, the receiver noise power of the APD measuring equipment and a scale factor that can be estimated from a measured dis...
