In this paper we describe progress towards a theory of tran-formational program development. The transformation rules are based on a theory of contextual equivalence for functional languages with imperative features. Such notions of equivalence are fundamental for the process of program speciication, derivation, transformation, reenement and other forms of code generation and optimization. This...

Hoa Tran, Fordham University In Quantum Communication Channels, identification via quantum channels in which the transmission capacity is in soft converse. The new approach for quantum channels based on strong converse method will be addressed, it involves a development of explicit large deviation estimates to the case of random variables taking values in self-adjoint operators.
The dynamics of a homogeneous population of spiking neurons are analyzed. It is shown that signal transmission can be rapid. The cut-oo frequency of signal transmission depends on the noise level and on synaptic time constants rather than on the membrane time constant. In the low noise limit, tran-sients of the population activity can be immediate .
Using a simple frame of logic, specificationally the TSP is tran-sormed to a Hamiltonian Path Problem. A brief consideration of the Lin-Kernighan heuristic for the TSP indirectly provides an answer to Godel's question 'How long is a proof?', by treating 'proving' as an optimisation problem...
