Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is an economically important viral disease of chickens with worldwide distribution which suppresses the immune system of young chickens. VP2 is the major host-protective protein of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). The encoding region of VP2 protein was PCR amplified from a plasmid containing a cDNA fragment of large genomic segment of IBDV, strain D78. Thi...

We have isolated hybrid baculoviruses of Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) and Autographa californica NPV (AcNPV) capable of replicating in both BmN (not susceptible to AcNPV) and SF-21 (not susceptible to BmNPV) cells (A. Kondo and S. Maeda, J. Virol. 65:3625-3632, 1991). Repeated backcross infection of one of these recombinant isolates with AcNPV generated eh-AcNPV, a virus with ...

A new method of in vitro recombination was employed to construct plasmids containing lac promoter fragments 64 bp and 144 bp long. The 64 bp HpaII-HhaI fragment contains the binding site for the catabolite activator protein (CAP). The HpaII-HaeIII 144 bp fragment includes the binding sites for RNA polymerase, the lac repressor and CAP. The method utilizes the ability of T4 DNA polymerase to mak...

a new strategy for construction of synthetic gene encoding human basic fibroblast growth factor comprising dna annealing-ligation and augmentation by polymerase chain reaction was introduced. the sequence of the gene and corresponding amino acid chain were modified in order to increase stability of the protein. first, 300 bp and 160 bp fragments of the gene were assembled from 18 oligonucleotid...

conclusions findings of the study demonstrated that the t. gondii infection is common in wild boars in southwest iran and could represent a significant health risk for animals, hunters, and local residents who may consume wild boar meat. results anti-t. gondii antibodies were detected in sera of 4 out of the 25 (16%) wild boars. there was no gender or age-related differences in seroprevalence o...

In the present research, molecular detection of bovine leukocyte adhesion deficiency (BLAD) and complex vertebral malformation (CVM)in a population of Iranian Holstein cows has been carried outusing milk somatic cells by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP). The BLAD and CVM are monogenic and autosomal recessive heredity lethal syndrome in Holstein-Friesi...

Calpastatin (CAST) is a specific inhibiter of Calpains, playing a role in meat tenderization and myogenesis. In the present study the polymorphism of the CAST gene ofKhalkhali goat in Azerbaijan province in Iran was investigated by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism technique (PCR-RFLP). Genomic DNA was extracted from whole blood samples collected from 200 Kh...

Restriction fragment length polymorphism and hybridization of DNA extracted from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, nontuberculous mycobacteria, and nonmycobacterial species with a probe derived from IS6110 confirmed that IS6110 was specific to M. tuberculosis complex. In addition, DNA amplification with IS6110-specific primers yielded a 181-bp fragment only in DNA from M. tuberculosis complex isolates.

We have generated a panel of deletion mutants of ors8 (483 bp), a mammalian autonomously replicating DNA sequence, previously isolated by extrusion of nascent monkey (CV-1) DNA from replication bubbles active at the onset of S phase. The deletion mutants were tested for replication function by the DpnI resistance assay, in vivo, after transfection into HeLa cells, and in vitro. An internal frag...

Canola (Brassica napus L.) is an important oilseed crop. A serious problem in cultivation of this crop andyield loss, are due to fungal disease stem rot caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. The pathogenesis-related(PR) proteins have the potential for enhancing resistance against fungal pathogen. Thaumatin-like proteins(TLPs) have been shown to have antifungal activity on variou...
