Bovis Calculus Artifactus (BCA) is the main substitute for natural bovis, a traditional drug in China used to treat high fever, convulsion, and sore throat. The effect of BCA on cytochrome P450 (CYP) activities unknown. This study was investigate eight rat hepatic microsomal CYPisozymes evaluate potential interactions using cocktail approach.Metabolites isoform probe substrates CYP isozymes wer...

Streptococcus bovis is found as a commensal organism in human gut and may become opportunistically pathogenic. Infective endocarditis is one of the commonest modes of presentation of this infection. The association between Streptococcus bovis endocarditis and colorectal cancer is well recognized. We report a case of Streptococcus bovis endocarditis along with a refractory iron deficiency anaemi...

Vaccination of mice with Mycobacterium bovis culture filtrate proteins (CFP), prepared in a variety of adjuvants (aluminum hydroxide, Quil-A, and dimethyldioctyldecyl ammonium bromide [DDA]), provided significant protection against an aerosol challenge of virulent M. bovis. Additionally, vaccination with CFP in DDA or Quil-A did not sensitize mice to M. bovis purified protein derivative.

The enzyme system of pyruvate formate-lyase (PFL) in Streptococcus bovis was investigated by isolating PFL and PFL-activating enzyme (PFL-AE) from S. bovis, flavodoxin from Escherichia coli, and chloroplasts from spinach. In this study, the PFL and PFL-AE in S. bovis were found to be similar to those in E. coli, suggesting that the activating mechanisms are similar. The optimal pH of S. bovis P...

As Mycoplasma bovis spreads to new countries and becomes increasingly recognized as a disease with major welfare economic effects, control measures on dairy farms are needed. To minimize the risk of infection spread naive herds, all possible factors for M. should be identified controlled. was first diagnosed in cattle Finland 2012, by January 2020, 86 Finnish (<1.5%) supporting infections were ...

We evaluated a multiplex-PCR to differentiate Mycobacterium bovis from M. tuberculosis Complex (MTC) by one step amplification based on simultaneous detection of pncA 169 C > G change in M. bovis and the IS6110 present in MTC species. Our findings showed the proposed multiplex-PCR is a very useful tool for complementation in differentiating M. bovis from other cultured MTC species.

Genetic differences between Mycobacterium bovis and M. tuberculosis were identified. We found (i) a deletion of Rv3479 specific to M. bovis, (ii) that the rpfA gene is shortened to various extents in M. bovis, and (iii) an insertion in Rv0648 and a duplication of lppA common in M. tuberculosis complex isolates.

Though careful consideration has been placed towards genetic characterization of tubercle bacillus isolates causing disease in humans, those causing disease predominantly among wild and domesticated mammals have received less attention. In contrast to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, whose host range is largely specific to humans, M. bovis and "M bovis-like" organisms infect a broad range of animal ...

Mycoplasma bovis is a small, cell wall-less bacterium that contributes to a number of chronic inflammatory diseases in both dairy and feedlot cattle, including mastitis and bronchopneumonia. Numerous reports have implicated M. bovis in the activation of the immune system, while at the same time inhibiting immune cell proliferation. However, it is unknown whether the specific immune-cell populat...

Mycoplasma bovis is a cause of pneumonia, mastitis, arthritis and otitis media in cattle throughout the world. However, despite its clinical significance, there is a paucity of tools to genetically manipulate it, impeding our capacity to further explore the molecular basis of its virulence. To address this limitation, we developed a series of homologous and heterologous replicable plasmids from...
