This paper presents the results of numerical experiments to determine the probability, over concrete fixed finite fields, of prime-order elliptic curves having a prime-order twist. These curves are called “elliptic twins” by [7], and are useful for a variety of cryptographic applications. Most notable is that such curves are secure against an “insecure twist” attack. This attack was introduced ...

[formula: see text] The conformation of the retinal chromophore in rhodopsin is central for understanding the visual transduction process. The absolute twist around the 12-s bond of the chromophore in rhodopsin has been determined by studies with 11-cis-locked 11,12-cyclopropylretinal analogues (11S,12R)-2 and (11R,12S)-3, enantioselectively synthesized with the aid of an enzyme. The finding th...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The specific aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility, reproducibility and maturational changes of LV rotation, twist and torsion variables by real-time 3D speckle-tracking echocardiography (RT3DSTE) in children. METHODS A prospective study was conducted in 347 consecutive healthy subjects (181 males/156 females, mean age 7.12 ± 5.3 years, and range from birt...

We discuss the Q dependence of the chiral-odd twist-3 distribution e(x,Q). The anomalous dimension matrix for the corresponding twist-3 operators is calculated in the one-loop level. This study completes the calculation of the anomalous dimension matrices for all the twist-3 distributions together with the known results for the other twist-3 distributions g2(x,Q ) and hL(x,Q ). We also have con...

Double-spin asymmetries and absolute cross sections were measured at large Bjorken x  (0.25≤x≤0.90), in both the deep-inelastic and resonance regions, by scattering longitudinally polarized electrons at beam energies of 4.7 and 5.9 GeV from a transversely and longitudinally polarized (3)He target. In this dedicated experiment, the spin structure function g(2)((3)He) was determined with precisio...

During Drosophila embryogenesis, the dorsal transcription factor activates the expression of twist, a transcription factor required for mesoderm formation. We show here that the mammalian twist proteins, twist-1 and -2, are induced by a cytokine signaling pathway that requires the dorsal-related protein RelA, a member of the NF-kappaB family of transcription factors. Twist-1 and -2 repress cyto...

We study the twist–4 contribution to the unpolarized nucleon structure functions, F L and F 2 , in an approach where the vacuum structure of QCD is described by a dilute medium of instantons (¯ ρ/ ¯ R ≪ 1). The dominant power corrections come from the twist–4 quark–gluon operators and are of the order 1/(¯ ρ 2 Q 2). The contributions from four–quark operators are suppressed. The approach predic...

We present the first measurements of the e[over -->]p-->epgamma cross section in the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) regime and the valence quark region. The Q(2) dependence (from 1.5 to 2.3 GeV(2)) of the helicity-dependent cross section indicates the twist-2 dominance of DVCS, proving that generalized parton distributions (GPDs) are accessible to experiment at moderate Q(2). The heli...
