Uptake of alkane (C5-C9) and alcohol (C4-C7) solutes by both strong acid cation exchange resins and strong base anion exchange resins in aqueous medium has been studied. The amount of solute taken up by resins is directly proportional to the solute concentration equilibrium with resins. Hydrophobic interaction between the solute and the resin matrix appears to play an important role in the upta...

An attempt was made to sustain the release of Betahistine hydrochloride by complexation technique using strong cation-exchange resin, Tulsion T344. The drug loading onto ion-exchange resin was optimized for mixing time, activation, effect of pH, swelling time, ratio of drug : resin, and temperature. The resinate was evaluated for micromeritic properties and characterized using XRPD and IR. For ...

The copper(II)-histidine complex obtained following dialysis of human plasma with histidine was investigated using various types of extraction systems and ion exchange resins. According to the results obtained, the Cu(II)-histidine complex formed under the dialysis conditions has one positive charge. Preconcentration of copper from the dialysis solution was achieved by its extraction as a dithi...

Ion-exclusion chromatography (IEC) has been widely used in the separation of carboxylic acids, finding applications in the analysis of food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, biological samples, and acid rain samples.1 The retention mechanism of carboxylic acids in ion-exclusion chromatography has also been investigated in many studies, and the factors which affect retention can be divided into th...

Flow calorimetry, which is ideally suited for measuring reactions oc curring at the liquid/solid interface, has been used to study the surface chemistry of many types of solids, but little use of it has been made in the study of surface reactions of soils. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the application of flow calorimetry to the study of two fun damental soil chemical processes,...

The lecithins of rat liver are resolved into three fractions by chromatography on a thin layer of silica gel impregnated with silver nitrate. Each of these fractions is placed in a small column containing a cation-exchange resin, and the lecithins are eluted free from silver nitrate. Recoveries average 96%.

A new aminoglycoside antibiotic, G-367 S1 (2'-N-formylsisomicin, C20H37N5O8) produced by a rare actinomycetes, Dactylosporangium thailandense G-367 (FERM-P 4840) has been isolated by column chromatography on a cation-exchange resin. G-367 S1 is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
