We shall present in this paper the results of investigations on the perfor— mance of Linear Prediction (LP) analysis of speech when the signal is corrupted with additive white noise. In particular we shall discuss the effect of noise on various parameters derived from LP analysis. Theoretical justification for U 10 the observed results is given.

The impact of dark 1/f noise on fundamental signal sensitivity in direct low optical signal detection is an understudied issue. In this theoretical manuscript, we study the limitations of an idealized detector with a combination of white noise and 1/f noise, operating in detector dark noise limited mode. In contrast to white noise limited detection schemes, for which there is no fundamental min...

Bluetooth (BT) is a leading technology for the deployment of wireless Personal Area Networks and Body Area Networks. Versions 2.0 and 2.1 of the standard, which are massively implemented in commercial devices, improve the throughput of the BT technology by enabling the so-called Enhanced Data Rates (EDR). EDRs are achieved by utilizing new modulation techniques (π/4-DQPSK and 8-DPSK), apart fro...

Introduction: It has been shown that low levels of pigmentation increase susceptibility to noise-induced hearing loss in humans. For this reason, white populations develop more pronounced noise- induced hearing loss in comparison to black populations. Similarly, blue-eyed individuals exhibit greater temporary threshold shift than brown-eyed subjects; still, no strong correlation has been veri...

The suggested open problem concerns the error of estimation and the minimum of the cost in the filtering and optimal control problems for a partially observable linear system corrupted by wide band noise processes. Recent results allow to construct a wide band noise process in a certain integral form on the basis of its autocovariance function and design the optimal filter and the optimal contr...

Introduction: In the present study, was performed to investigate the relationship between toluene(1000 ppm), noise, toluene and toluene along with noise (frequencies 250- 2000 Hz) per auditory Brain Stem response (ABR) on rabbits in which being exposed to this contaminants.   Materials & Methods: Three months old, male adult white New Zealand rabbits (1400-1700 g body weight) were used throug...

It is shown that the estimation of nonlinear distortions in the various circuits based on the measurement of the ratio of the dispersion and correlation functions does not depend on the level of additive noise acting on the input (or output) of nonlinear circuit. The proposed theoretical method is confirmed by experimental measurements.

In this work we address the problem of single-channel speech enhancement when the speech is corrupted by additive noise. The model presented here, called the Modified Phase Opponency (MPO) model, is based on the auditory PO model, proposed by Carney et. al., for detection of tones in noise. The PO model includes a physiologically realistic mechanism for processing the information in neural disc...

We propose a numerical integration scheme to solve stochastic differential equations driven by Poissonian white shot noise. Our formula, which is based on an integral equation, which is equivalent to the stochastic differential equation, utilizes a discrete time approximation with fixed integration time step. We show that our integration formula approaches the Euler formula if the Poissonian no...

When an observer is asked to detect a sinewave grating, is squared threshold proportional to the total noise power (including the equivalent noise) passed by a single linear filter ("channel") which depends on the signal, but not on the noise? Both hypotheses will be experimentally tested along several dimensions of spatio-temporal frequency. The hypotheses allow ·~he modulation transfer functi...
