In this paper, we establish Lp norm bounds for spectral clusters on compact manifolds, under the assumption that the metric is C1,1. Precisely, we show that the Lp estimates proven by Sogge [12] in the case of smooth metrics hold under this limited regularity assumption. It is known by examples of Smith-Sogge [11] that such estimates fail for C1,α metrics if α < 1.

Harmony theory has been essential in composing, analysing, and performing music for centuries. Since Western tonal harmony exhibits a considerable amount of structure and regularity, it lends itself to formalisation. In this paper we present HARMTRACE, a system that, given a sequence of symbolic chord labels, automatically derives the harmonic function of a chord in its tonal context. Among oth...

Fitelson and Waterman (2004)’s principal objection to Strevens (2001)’s Bayesian treatment of auxiliary hypotheses rests on a misinterpretation of Strevens’s central claim about the negligibility of certain small probabilities. The present paper clarifies and proves a very general version of the claim.

In this paper, we present a performance comparison between linear recursive variable expansion (RVE) and linear systolic array implementations of the Smith‐Waterman (S‐ W) algorithm. The results demonstrate that the temporal performance of linear RVE implementation is 2.11 to 3 times better than the traditional linear systolic array implementation at the spatial co...

(ABSTRACT) With the emerging hybrid multi-core and many-core compute platforms delivering unprecedented high performance within a single chip, and making rapid strides toward the commodity processor market, they are widely expected to replace the multi-core processors in the existing High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures, such as large scale clusters, grids and supercomputers. On the...

It has been found that integration of visual stimuli in optic nerve fibres can take place in ways which, although unexpected, reflect the types of information used by the animal to react to those environmental changes which are of specific importance for it. The findings in the frog by Barlow (1953) and by Lettvin, Maturana, McCulloch & Pitts (1959) were the first which made this principle clea...
