in this paper, effects of the cross shore and groyne wall slopes on flow parameters around an impermeable groyne were considered using a three-dimensional numerical cfd model (i.e., fluent). the k-ε turbulence model was used to evaluate the reynolds stresses. the model was first applied to a vertical groyne on a flat bed and the model results were compared with the relevant experimental data. t...

BACKGROUND Cross-sectional flow-velocity profiles from early mitral flow in 20 patients (10 with mitral regurgitation and 10 with mitral stenosis) were constructed from the velocity data from each point in sequentially delayed two-dimensional digital Doppler ultrasound maps. METHODS AND RESULTS The data suggested that the early mitral flow studied in an apical four-chamber view was variably s...

Multiple scattering becomes a problem close to the critical point, especially in systems with a large difference in the refractive index and large correlation length amplitudes as for the case of polystyrene/cyclohexane. In this work we demonstrate the application of the one-beam cross correlation technique and show that in the reduced temperature range of t red51.66310 25 – 0.03 the multiple s...

We demonstrate the separation of sand stone reservoir from shale where gas sand and shale have almost similar P-, S-impedance contrast using Poisson Impedance (PI). The correlation coefficients between PI curve (with different c values) versus Gamma ray and Water saturation curve are computed. The c value corresponding to maximum correlation coefficient for GR is used to compute another attribu...

The kinetic properties and the control mechanism of fructose-6-phosphate 2-kinase (ATP: D-fructose-6-phosphate 2-phosphotransferase) were investigated. The molecular weight of the enzyme is approximately 100,000 as determined by gel filtration. The plot of initial velocity versus ATP concentration is hyperbolic with a Km of 1.2 mM. However, the plot of enzyme activity as a function of fructose-...

PURPOSE Time series analysis may be helpful to estimate hematological data on gastric cancer patients who receive S 1, but untreated raw clinical data are not suitable for this approach. Hematological monitoring data interpolated by spline were analyzed by an attractor plot, which is a form of time series analysis. METHODS Hematological data of three gastric cancer patients were interpolated ...

Herb-drug interaction related with the drugs used to treat HIV patients was speculated in the present study. Therefore, zidovudine (AZT) was selected as an example, and in vitro incubation model was utilized to evaluate the inhibitory effect of herbal component methylophiopogonanone A towards the metabolism of AZT. The results showed the concentration-dependent inhibition of methylophiopogonano...

1. Implement AdaBoost with boosting stumps and apply the algorithm to the spambase data set of HW2 with the same training and test sets. Plot the average cross-validation error plus or minus one standard deviation as a function of the number of rounds of boosting T by selecting the value of this parameter out of {10, 102, . . . , 10k} for a suitable value of k, as in HW2. Let T ∗ be the best va...

This paper presents preliminary velocity and scalar measurements of low swirl intensity jets in air. Swirling jets were generated using a micro-injector swirl generator. Velocity fields of the jets were obtained using Multi-grid Cross Correlation Digital Particle Image Velocimetry. Initial flow visualizations were performed using planar laser induced fluorescence with acetone as tracer species.

The cross correlations of the wave signals emitted by ambient noise sources can be used to estimate the Green’s function of the wave equation in an inhomogeneous medium. In this paper we clarify the role of random scattering in the Green’s function estimation in the radiative transport regime and we show how this insight can be used to estimate the velocity of propagation of a smooth background...
