Blastocyst quality score (BQS), first reported by Rehman et al., is a numerical blastocyst-morphology grading system based on the criteria established by Gardner and Schoolcraft. We demonstrate a positive correlation between the calculated BQS score and cell number by staining thawed human embryos and suggest that BQS can be applied to evaluate culture systems clinically.
OBJECTIVE To objectively measure the effect of a pass-fail grading system on stress, mood, group cohesion, and test anxiety in medical students. PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS Beginning with the class of 2006, the Mayo Medical School, Rochester, Minn, changed the grading system for first-year courses from a 5-interval grading system to a pass-fail grading system. Students in the previous class of 2...
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE [(11)C]Methionine (MET) PET imaging is a sensitive technique for visualizing primary brain tumors and recurrence/progression after therapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the uptake of MET and histopathologic grading and to investigate the prognostic value of the tracer, in both settings. METHODS Cerebral uptake of MET was determined in 5...
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The Gleason grading system provides important information for guiding prostate cancer patients' management and prognostication. The grading system underwent significant modifications over the past decade. In 2005 and more recently in 2014, the International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) held two consensus conferences to update prostate cancer grading. Recently, five p...
OBJECTIVE Different types of multimodality therapy, including chemoradiotherapy and surgery, increasingly are being used for the treatment of patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC; stages IIIA and IIIB). In this context, the applicability of a morphologic regression grading and its prognostic value were investigated. PATIENTS AND METHODS In a multicenter phase II tr...
The classification of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) has been evolving steadily over the last decades. Important prognostic factors of NENs are their proliferative activity and presence/absence of necrosis. These factors are reported in NENs of all body sites; however, the terminology as well as the exact rules of classification differ according to the location of the primary tumor. Only in ga...
AIM OF THE STUDY Aim of the study was to assess statistical differences of serum levels of HE4 and CA125 between certain endometrial cancer stages, grading and histological types. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective study of 52 patients admitted to our clinic for a surgical operation because of endometrial cancer was performed. HE4 and CA125 were measured for each patient. The staging was do...
Background-Histologic grading has been used as a prognostic factor and for clinical behavior evaluation of oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) for the past several decades. At the same time, the prognostic value of different grading classifications remains controversial. Methods-A retrospective study of 48 cases of tongue SCC was undertaken to compare different grading systems and their relation...
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Skull base chordoma has been widely studied in recent years, however, imaging characteristics of this tumor have not been well elaborated. The purpose of this study was to establish an MR imaging grading system for skull base chordoma. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, 156 patients with skull base chordomas were retrospectively assessed. Tumor-to-pons signal intensit...
