This position paper discusses the issues in design and development of a transaction support for Ada 95. Transactions and other fault tolerance mechanisms are reviewed, and their applicability in a concurrent programming language is analyzed. Possible ways of integration are presented, and implementation problems are discussed.

Cognitive function and the performance of a secondary, dual task may affect certain aspects of gait, but the relationships between cognitive function and gait are not well understood. To better understand the motor control of gait and the relationship between cognitive function and gait, we studied cognitive function and the effects of different types of dual tasking on the gait of patients wit...

With the advancement of hardware technology, it becomes feasible to develop a networked system of pervasive computing platforms that combine programmable general purpose computers with multiple sensing and wireless communication capability. This networked system of programmable sensor nodes, together called a sensor network, poses unique challenges on how information collected by and stored wit...

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an infrastructure that interconnects uniquely-identifiable devices using the Internet. By interconnecting everyday appliances, various monitoring, and physical mashup applications can be constructed to improve human's daily life. In general, IoT devices provide two main capabilities: sensing and tasking capabilities. While the sensing capability is similar to the...

The study used fMRI to investigate brain activation in participants who were able to listen to and successfully comprehend two people speaking at the same time (dual-tasking). The study identified brain mechanisms associated with high-level, concurrent dual-tasking, as compared with comprehending a single message. Results showed an increase in the functional connectivity among areas of the lang...

Cognitive deficits are very difficult to diagnose during the initial stages; tests typically consist of a patient performing punctual dual-task activities, which subjectively analyzed determine cognitive decline impact on gait. This work supports novel and objective diagnosis methods by stating baseline how neurotypical aging affects dual tasks while using smartphone move. With this aim, we pro...

In this work we present a highly efficient implementation of OpenMP tasks. It is based on a runtime infrastructure architected for data locality, a crucial prerequisite for exploiting the NUMA nature of modern multicore multiprocessors. In addition, we employ fast work-stealing structures, based on a novel, efficient and fair blocking algorithm. Synthetic benchmarks show up to a 6-fold increase...

This paper discusses a design methodology of cooperative trajectory generation for multi-robot systems. The trajectory of achieving cooperative tasks, i.e., with temporal constraints, is constructed hy a nonlinear trajectory generation (NTG) algorithm. Three scenarios of multi-robot tasking are proposed at the cooperative task planning framework. The NTG algorithm is, then, used to generate rea...
