in this paper, a hybrid solid oxide fuel cell (sofc) and micro gas turbine (mgt) power system is parametrically studied to evaluate the effect of different operating conditions. the sofc/mgt power system includes sofc reactor, combustion chamber, compressor and turbine units, and two heat exchangers. the effects of fuel utilization, temperature, and pressure are assessed on performance of the h...

We present results based on an XMM-Newton observation of the prototype narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy I Zw 1 performed in June 2002. The 0.6−12 keV spectrum is well described by a steep power-law (Γ ∼ 2.3) and a weak soft blackbody component (kT ∼ 200 eV) below 2 keV. The soft X-ray excess emission is featureless and contributes only ∼ 10% to the total X-ray emission in the 0.6− 2 keV band. There...

In the electronic communications sector, regulation of undertakings with significant market power is described as "asymmetric regulation" to indicate that obligations are imposed only on companies leading position. The asymmetric subject periodic review a view its complete abolition and replacement by application competition law. "Symmetric applies all undertakings, regardless their position, i...

We use the sample covariation to develop asymptotic tests for independence for data in the normal domain of attraction of a stable law. The tests can be used for finite or infinite variance processes. In a simulation study we compare the finite sample performance of the proposed tests to the Portmanteau test commonly used in time series modeling. The null convergence of the test statistics to t...

We present the results of several numerical simulations of two dimensional axi-symmetric accretion flows around black holes using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) in the presence of cooling effects. We consider both stellar black holes and super-massive black holes. We observe that due to both radial and vertical oscillation of shock waves in the accretion flow, the luminosity and average ...

We investigate the formation of acoustic horizons for an inviscid fluid moving in a pipe in the case of stationary and axi-symmetric flow. We show that, differently from what is generally believed, the acoustic horizon forms in correspondence of either a local minimum or maximum of the flux tube cross-section. Similarly, the external potential is required to have either a maximum or a minimum a...

We obtain effective potential of O(N)-symmetric φ theory for large N starting with a finite lattice system and taking the thermodynamic limit with great care. In the thermodynamic limit, it is globally real-valued and convex in both the symmetric and the broken phases. In particular, it has a flat bottom in the broken phase. Taking the continuum limit, we discuss renormalization effects to the ...

In this article we show how to compute the chromatic quasisymmetric function of indifference graphs from modular law introduced in [19]. We provide an algorithm which works for any that satisfies law, such as unicellular LLT polynomials. When graph has bipartite complement it reduces a planar network, case, prove coefficients elementary basis are positive unimodal polynomials and characterize t...

The decision of a claimant to obtain legal counsel, the timing of this decision, and the impact on the settlement amount an insurer successfully can offer are the focus of this study. This paper draws on strategic models of litigation/settlement with endogenous settlement amounts in the law and economics literature, but differs by endogenizing the decision to hire an attorney and its timing. Th...
