We report progress toward a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID)-based system capable of detecting a few atomic spin-flips. The scaling of the flux sensitivity with SQUID loop dimension of miniature niobium dc SQUID devices is examined and shown experimentally to vary as predicted. Our smallest device, with loop size 3 m 3 m, is capable of detecting 40 spins in a 1-Hz bandwidth. ...

In this research, ordered porous anodic templates with 30 nm diameter and 15 µm thickness were prepared by using double anodization process. Dip coating method was employed to synthesize strontium ferrite in the form of nanowires in sol dilution. Ferrite nanopowders were also synthesized using sol gel method. The characterization of the nanostructures were examined by X-Ray Diffraction (X...

Pulsed readout of Direct Current (DC) Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) is crucial for experiments which need to be performed at millikelvin temperatures, such as the superconducting and electron spin based qubits. algorithms used in these are usually specific experimental setup require some optimization. We present a circuit that emulates behavior DC-SQUID order allow develop...

We study microwave response of a Josephson parametric oscillator consisting superconducting transmission-line resonator with an embedded DC-superconducting quantum interference device (-SQUID). The DC-SQUID allows to control the magnitude Kerr nonlinearity over ranges where it is smaller or larger than photon loss rate. Spectroscopy measurements reveal change in from classical Duffing single de...

Wepropose an accurate clocked single-spin source for ac-spintronic applications. Our device consists of a superconducting island covered by a ferromagnetic insulator (FI) layer throughwhich it is coupled to superconducting leads. Single-particle transfer relies on the energy gaps and the islandʼs charging energy, and is enabled by a bias and a time-periodic gate voltage. Accurate spin transfer ...

A high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnetic shield based on Bi(Pb)2-Sr2-Ca2-Cu3-Ox (Bi-2223) was fabricated by plasma spraying for the purpose of observing a somatosensory-evoked magnetic field generated from the human brain[1]. Recently, a Bi-2223 cylindrical magnetic shield was developed by dip-coating on a 99.9 % MgO ceramic substrate. A highly-sensitive current monitor using this HTS ...

We study a superconducting stripline resonator SSR made of niobium, which is integrated with a superconducting interference device SQUID . The large nonlinear inductance of the SQUID gives rise to a strong Kerr nonlinearity in the response of the SSR, which in turn results in strong coupling between different modes of the SSR. We experimentally demonstrate that such intermode coupling gives ris...

Nonlinearities give rise to intermodulation distortion in superconducting microwave devices and currently limit their use to low power applications. We have developed a cryogenic imaging technique to spatially resolve intermodulation distortion and used it to image an 8.2 GHz high temperature superconducting Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8 microwave resonator. The images reveal that the fundamental and intermodu...

We present the first measurements of the Berry phase in a superconducting Cooper pair pump. A fixed amount of Berry phase is accumulated to the quantum-mechanical ground state in each adiabatic pumping cycle, which is determined by measuring the charge passing through the device. The dynamic and geometric phases are identified and measured quantitatively from their different response when pumpi...
