in this study, 22 patients (15-75 years old) were selected and transferred to ct scan for tumor ablation. for ablations, after prep and drep under the local anesthesia and mild sedation in proper position, small incision made and special needle inserted and guided by proper direction to the core of the tumor. then, laser probe inserted through the needle and laser energy delivered. although we ...

The section sensitivity profile (SSP) was well understood in the case of single-row-detector spiral CT. With the introduction of multi-row-detector spiral CT and the transition into cone-beam spiral CT, a revisit to the SSP issue becomes necessary. In this paper, the SSP of multi-row-detector spiral CT is formulated for the half-scan interpolation method at any transverse position. Based on the...

Sir, pulmonary emboli, weight-adjusted thrombolytic Acute pulmonary embolism is potentially fatal unless therapy was given. Patient 4 presented with syncope treated early. Thrombolytic therapy is beneficial for and shortness of breath. Electrocardiogram revealed patients with acute pulmonary embolism who are an S 1 O 3 T 3 pattern, and echocardiogram showed hypotensive and have arterial hypoxae...

Plain x-rays can reveal opaque renal calculi. They may also be helpful in nephrocalcinosis where there is increased uptake of calcium by the kidneys. CT scan of kidneys, ureter and bladder is the preferred imaging modality looking for renal calculi. CT scanning has a higher radiation dose than plain x-ray but it has a much better sensitivity for detecting a stone both directly and indirectly (e...

X-ray-computed tomography (CT) successfully underwent a transition from slice-by-slice imaging to volume imaging in the decade after 1990 due to the introduction of spiral scan modes. Later, the transition from single-slice to multislice scanning followed. With the advent of new detector technologies we are now looking forward to circular and spiral scanning using area detectors and the respect...

A 75-year-old lady came to emergency room due to dizziness and presyncopal attacks during exertion since two days prior to admission. Transesophageal echocardiography revealed a thrombus like mass in right atrium traversing patent foramen ovale and extending to left atrium. Spiral chest CT scan showed bilateral pulmonary thromboemboli. Operative and pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis.

background: x-ray computed tomography (ct) examinations deliver a significant amount of radiation doses to patients comparing to conventional radiography examinations. the objective of the current study was to analyze and investigate the average patient received dose from axial and spiral ct exams in a medical imaging center. material and methods: in this study, the patient imaging technique, w...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical characteristics, risk factors, management and outcome of major pulmonary embolism (PE) in a tertiary care center of Karachi. METHODS Medical records of all patients who underwent a spiral CT scan of the chest for suspected pulmonary embolism were reviewed between January 2000 and June 2007 at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi. Patients having evidenc...

OBJECTIVE To improve the planning of hepatic surgery, we have developed a fully automatic anatomical, pathological, and functional segmentation of the liver derived from a spiral CT scan. MATERIALS AND METHODS From a 2 mm-thick enhanced spiral CT scan, the first stage automatically delineates skin, bones, lungs, kidneys, and spleen by combining the use of thresholding, mathematical morphology...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Contrast-enhanced spiral CT studies of the head and neck are performed frequently using contrast material volumes of approximately 30 g iodine and a scan delay of 30-45 seconds. Because little is known about the effects of contrast material injection rates on tissue enhancement, this was prospectively investigated in our study. METHODS Ninety-seven patients underwent sp...
