CFD analysis of 2-dimensional artificially roughened solar air heater duct with additional circular vortex generator, inserted in inlet section is carried out. Circular transverse ribs on the absorber plate are placed as usual. The analysis is done to investigate the effect of inserting additional vortex generator on the heat transfer and flow friction characteristics inside the solar air heate...

Cu(2)FeSnS(4) (CFTS) nanocrystals with tunable crystal phase have been synthesized using a solution-based method. As-synthesized CFTS nanocrystals in the shape of oblate spheroid and triangular plate with band gaps of 1.54 ± 0.04 and 1.46 ± 0.03 eV, respectively, appear attractive as a low-cost substitute for thin film solar cells.

The article is devoted to the thermal calculation of a flat plate solar collector. In this case, boundary conditions are third kind. solution found in transition an elliptical coordinate system. author has obtained analytical for distribution temperature field collector with cross-section at zero ambient partial adiabatic isolation form functional series using hypergeometric functions.

Solar collector (Air heater) has low thermal efficiency due to the low thermal conductivity between Air and absorber plate. So there is a need to enhance the thermal conductivity between air and absorber plate. This leads higher temperature to absorber plate and hence maximum thermal losses occurs to environment .It can be made possible by creating artificial roughness on absorber plate .There ...

We report on a demonstration prototype module created to explore the viability of using microscale solar cells combined with microlens array concentrators to create a thin, flat-plate concentrator module with a relatively large acceptance angle for use with coarse two-axis tracking systems designed for flat-plate, one-sun modules. The demonstration module was comprised of an array of 216 cell/m...

Exploitation of solar energy for achieving low temperature is an active area of research at present owing to the concern over suitable alternatives to synthetic refrigerants and large electricity consumption by conventional vapour compression systems. Present work theoretically design and analyze the performance of a solar flat-plate collector-driven water-Lithium bromide absorption refrigerati...

High-efficiency multijunction (MJ) solar cells, being very expensive to manufacture, should only be used in combination with solar concentrators in terrestrial applications. An essential cost reduction of electric power produced by photovoltaic (PV) installations with MJ cells, may be expected by the creation of highly-effective, but inexpensive, elements for optical concentration and sun track...

Emerging classes of concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules reach efficiencies that are far greater than those of even the highest performance flat-plate PV technologies, with architectures that have the potential to provide the lowest cost of energy in locations with high direct normal irradiance (DNI). A disadvantage is their inability to effectively use diffuse sunlight, thereby constraining...
