abstract amino acids are building blocks of proteins, and play a vital role in living beings existence and their functionality. the interaction of these compounds with metal ions is of great importance to biochemists, and chemists, because their functions can be utilized as a model in understanding enzymes mechanism for transport of metal ions to tissues. among twenty essential amino acids w...

The diversity of Trichoderma spp. was investigated in alkaline soils of pistachio orchards at different geographic areas in Kerman province, Iran. A total of 161 Trichoderma isolates were obtained and identified at the species level by their morphological characters and sequence analysis of their internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and tef1-α genomic regions. Totally, five species of Trichoderma ...

We introduce a normalized version of the LCS metric as a new local similarity measure for comparing two RNAs. An O(n2m lgm) time algorithm is presented for computing the maximum normalized score of two RNA sequences, where n and m are the lengths of the sequences and n ≤ m. This algorithm has the same time complexity as the currently best known global LCS algorithm.

Low-Complexity Regions (LCRs) of biological sequences are the main source of false positives in similarity searches for biological sequence databases. We consider the problem of finding similar sequences when the locations of the LCRs are not known precisely. We develop a formulation to measure the quality of each letter in a sequence. The quality value of a letter is the probability for that l...

The quantitative similarity among tRNA gene sequences was acquired by analysis with an artificial neural network. The evolutionary relationship derived from our results was consistent with those from other methods. A new sequence was recognized to be a tRNA-like gene by a neural network on the analysis of similarity. All of our results showed the efficiency of the artificial neural network meth...

One of the most important species of the Bartonella genus is B. henselae that causes a zoonotic infection, cat scratch disease (CSD). The main source of the bacteria is cat and the carrier is Ctenocephalides felis flea. One hundred and forty nail and saliva samples were collected from 70 domestic cats. Positive samples for B. henselae were characterized by po...

Background and aim: Newcastle disease (ND) is one of the most serious diseases among many species of birds and causes devastating effects on the poultry industry. This disease is endemic in Iran and ND outbreaks occur unexpectedly and with high mortality and severe clinical signs. The sequence of the F protein cleavage site is that the major virulence determinant of Newcastle disease virus (NDV...
