Here, we report the isolation, identification, whole-genome sequencing, and annotation of four Bacillus species from internal stem tissue of the insulin plant Costus igneus, grown in Puerto Rico. The plant is of medicinal importance, as extracts from its leaves have been shown to lower blood sugar levels of hyperglycemic rats.
Costus speciosus Koen. (Keu, Crape ginger), an Indian ornamental plant, has long been medicinally used in traditional systems of medicine. The plant has been found to possess diverse number of pharmacological activities. The present article gives an account of updated information on its phytochemical and pharmacological properties. The review reveals that wide numbers of phytochemical constitue...
Seven sesquiterpene lactones were isolated by the chromatographic separation of the MeOH extract of the aerial parts of Saussurea calcicola (Compositae). Their structures were determined spectroscopically to be cynaropicrin (1), arguerin B (2), cebellin F (3), 8alpha-hydroxy-11alpha, 13-dihydrozaluzanin C (4), desacylcynaropicrin (5), 3beta-hydroxy-8alpha-epoxymethylacriloiloxy-4(15),10(14),11(...
in-vitro evaluation of antioxidant activity and phenolic content of costus speciosus (koen) j.e. sm.
costus speciosus (koen) j.e. sm. plant and its extracts are used for treatment of fever, snake bites, jaundice, and as a purgative, astringent and antibacterial agent. in the present study, an attempt has been made to evaluate in vitro antioxidant activity of different extracts of this plant by dpph radical scavenging activity, total antioxidant capacity, nitric oxide scavenging activity, ion c...

Given at the University of Berlin, these lectures were amongst Hegel’s most successful and best attended.1 By then a recognized intellectual figure, Hegel sets out to salvage art from its subjectivization in Kantian and romantic aesthetics, but ends up declaring that art, cons...
Chromatographic separation of the MeOH extract from the aerial parts of Saussurea pulchella led to the isolation of seven terpenes (1-4, 11-13), and eight phenolics (5-10, 14-15). Their structures were determined by spectroscopic means to be (3S)-3-O-(3',4'-diangeloyl-beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-3,7-trimethylocta-1,6-diene (1), 7delta-methoxy- 4(14)- oppositen-1beta-ol (2) 4(15)- eudesmene-1beta,...
