Dendrimer-templated nanoparticle synthesis is an efficient method for preparing a variety of monoand bimetallic nanomaterials, whose sizes are constrained by the loading capacity of the dendrimer template. A common commercially available dendrimer is composed of repeating amino-amide units (polyamidoamine, PAMAM), whose internal amines coordinate with free metal ions in solution. The metal ion ...
Ru nanoparticles loaded on a Keggin-type polyoxometalate (Cs(3)PW(12)O(40)), which did not possess strong intrinsic acidity, efficiently catalysed the conversions of cellobiose and cellulose into sorbitol in water medium in H(2) at ≤433 K. The Brønsted acid sites generated in situ from H(2) have been demonstrated to play a key role in the formation of sorbitol.
A multimetallic ruthenium(II) dendrimer is used for the first time to photosensitize dioxygen production from water by IrO2 nanoparticles; the system is more efficient than an analogous system based on the more commonly used [Ru(bpy)3]2+-type photosensitizers, in particular for the ability of the dendrimer to take advantage of the red portion of the solar spectrum.
We report a facile and general approach for preparing ultrafine ruthenium nanocatalysts by using a plasma-assisted synthesis at <100 °C. The resulting Ru nanoparticles are monodispersed (typical size 2 nm) and remain that way upon loading onto carbon and TiO2 supports. This gives robust catalysts with excellent activities in both organosilane oxidation and the oxygen evolution reaction.
A new thioester functionalized calix[8]arene derivative is used for the synthesis of metallic Pd, Pt and Ru nanoparticles, exhibiting several interesting features such as stability and remarkable surface functionalization. Crystalline particles of very small dimensions and good dispersion have been obtained.
Ruthenium nanoparticles (RuNPs) were prepared through the hydrogenation of [Ru(COD)(COT)] (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene, COT = 1,3,5-cyclooctatriene) in the presence of diphosphites derived from carbohydrates as stabilizing agents, and interestingly, structural modifications of the diphosphite backbone were found to influence nanoparticle size and dispersity, as well as their catalytic activity in ...
A supramolecular assembly for visible light responsive release of cargo molecules is presented. Sulforhodamine 101 was loaded inside the mesopores of mercaptopropyl-functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MP-MSN) and entrapped by mercaptopropyl-coordinated Ru(bpy)(2)(PPh(3))-moieties. Irradiation with visible light triggers the release of capping species and loaded molecules.
A novel label-free electrochemical strategy for monitoring the activity and inhibition of protein kinase is developed, based on the linkage between the phosphorylated peptide and DNA functionalized Au nanoparticles (DNA-AuNPs) by Zr(4+) and the chronocoulometric response of [Ru(NH(3))(6)](3+) absorbed on the DNA-AuNPs.
• Ru-doped hematite nanorods were prepared by precipitation and calcination. Ru-for-Fe substitution (up to 2 mol%) induced a gradual elongation of nanorods. Temperature the Morin transition gradually rose with increased Ru doping. Optical band gap narrowed Cylinder-shaped particles formed in presence 4 or 5 mol% Ru. Nanosized (?-Fe O 3 ) is widely investigated material due its favourable proper...
Most of the world's hydrogen supply is currently obtained by reforming hydrocarbons. 'Reformate' hydrogen contains significant quantities of CO that poison current hydrogen fuel-cell devices. Catalysts are needed to remove CO from hydrogen through selective oxidation. Here, we report first-principles-guided synthesis of a nanoparticle catalyst comprising a Ru core covered with an approximately ...
