ECG-gated multislice CT(MSCT)now supports not only morphological but also functional diagnosis. In order to improve accuracy in the functional analysis of cardiac motion, it is important to depict the endocardial and epicardial contours. The present study was conducted to evaluate a method in which contrast medium and physiological saline solution(saline)are injected simultaneously, and the iod...

We present a case of bilateral retropharyngeal parathyroid hyperplasia detected with 4D-CT in a patient with persistent primary hyperparathyroidism and failed neck exploration. We discuss the embryologic basis of ectopic retropharyngeal parathyroid adenomas and hyperplasia and the utility of 4D-CT in their localization for surgical planning.

Handling an Update: When an update (it, ct) arrives, then ct is added to one entry in each row of the array count. Specifically, ∀1 ≤ j ≤ d, count [j, hj(it)]← count [j, hj(it)] + ct. Lemma 1. The space used by Count-Min Sketch is O(wd) ≡ O( ln 1 δ ) words. Specifically, it uses an array which takes wd words and d hash functions, each of which can be stored using 2 words. An update can be handl...

BACKGROUND The technologic improvements in Multislice scanners include the increment in the X-ray beam width. Some new CT scanners are equipped with a 320 detector row which allows a longitudinal coverage of 160 mm and a total of 640 slices for a single rotation. When such parameters are used the length of the traditional pencil chamber (10 cm) is no more appropriate to measure the standard wei...

Hematuria can be well evaluated with a comprehensive contrast material-enhanced multi-detector row computed tomography (CT) protocol that combines unenhanced, nephrographic-phase, and excretory-phase imaging. Unenhanced images are obtained from the kidneys to the bladder and allow optimal detection of renal calculi, a common cause of hematuria. Renal parenchymal abnormalities, particularly mass...

he short answer is yes. At this oint in time, it seems that the soalled slice wars with regard to the umber of slices provided per comuted tomographic (CT) gantry roation may be reaching a plateau. At he same time, increasing concerns bout radiation dose due to CT exminations are fueling the efforts to educe radiation dose and leading o the beginning of the so-called ose wars. Since 1998, there...

BACKGROUND The accuracy of multidetector computed tomographic (CT) angiography involving 64 detectors has not been well established. METHODS We conducted a multicenter study to examine the accuracy of 64-row, 0.5-mm multidetector CT angiography as compared with conventional coronary angiography in patients with suspected coronary artery disease. Nine centers enrolled patients who underwent ca...

Takayasu`s arteritis is a well-known systemic disease that involves the aorta, major aortic branches, and pulmonary arteries. Conventional catheter angiography remains the gold standard for disease diagnosis, in correlation with clinical data and laboratory findings. Multislice computed tomography angiography (MSCTA) has the advantage of non-invasively providing the angiographic data and combin...

We propose a fully automatic method for tooth detection and classification in CT or cone-beam CT image data. First we compute an accurate segmentation of the maxilla bone. Based on this segmentation, our method computes a complete and optimal separation of the row of teeth into 16 subregions and classifies the resulting regions as existing or missing teeth. This serves as a prerequisite for fur...
