The recently proposed eight-component relativistic wave equation is applied to the scattering of a photon from a free electron (Compton scattering). It is found that in spite of the considerable difference in the structure of this equation and that of Dirac the cross section is given by the Klein-Nishina formula.

In this work we review various findings in the planar quantum physics with the special emphasis on the two-component quantum electrodynamics in three-dimensional spacetime (QED3) with the Chern-Simons (CS) term. First the classical electrodynamics is briefly outlined. Then we construct and classify the unitary irreducible representations of the Poincaré group and connect them to various covaria...

Reciprocal transformations associated with admitted conservation laws were originally used to derive invariance properties in non-relativistic gasdynamics and applied obtain reduction tractable canonical forms. They have subsequently been shown diverse physical applications nonlinear systems, notably the analytic treatment of Stefan-type moving boundary problem linking inverse scattering system...

The nuclear effects in the spin-dependent structure functions g D 1 and b D 2 are calculated in the relativistic approach based on the Bethe-Salpeter equation with a realistic meson-exchange potential. The results of calculations are compared with the non-relativistic calculations. The problem of extraction of the neutron spin structure function, g n 1 , from the deuteron data is discussed. In ...

We discuss the formulation of a non-relativistic effective field theory for two-body P-wave scattering in presence shallow states and critically address various approaches to renormalization proposed literature. It is demonstrated that consistent involving only finite number parameters well-established formalism with auxiliary dimer fields corresponds inclusion an infinite counterterms contact ...

The Earth’s atmosphere is an environment replete with particles of differ-ent sizes with various refractive indices which affect the light radiation traveling through it. The Mie scattering theory is one of the well-known light scattering techniques ap-plicable to modeling of electromagnetic scattering from tiny atmospheric particles or aerosols floating in the air or within the clouds. In this...

The complete Dirac-Volkov relativistic treatment of the first Born limit of laser-assisted potential scattering of electrons within a circularly polarized laser field has been compared to the nonrelativistic Bunkin-Fedorov approach. The dependence of the quiver energy on the electron four-momentum in an ultrastrong laser field leads to different energy transfer cross sections depending on the s...

The problem of the anisotropic Inverse Compton scattering between a monochromatic photon beam and relativistic electrons is revisited and formally solved without approximations. Solutions are given for the single scattering with an electron beam and with a population of electrons isotropically distributed, under the assumption that the energy distribution of the relativistic particles follows a...

Abstract Relativistic particles in the Kepler and Coulomb potentials may have trajectories that are qualitatively different from the trajectories found in nonrelativistic mechanics. Spiral scattering trajectories were pointed out by C. G. Darwin in 1913 in connection with the relativistic Rutherford scattering of classical charged particles. Relativistic trajectories are of current interest in ...

We give a short review of e-Hg scattering and present some results of our recent closecoupling calculations. We look at the challenges facing theorists in the calculation of elastic scattering and excitation of the 6s6p P1 levels. INTRODUCTION In the field of electron-atom scattering the e-Hg collision systems is one of more interesting and important cases. Mercury is an important constituent o...
