This paper presents a realistic teletraac modeling framework for Personal Communications Services. The framework captures complex human behaviors and has been validated through analysis of actual call and mobility data. Using the proposed framework, a large-scale simulation was performed on a model of the San Francisco Bay Area. Simulation results showing the performance of IS-41 are presented.
Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (vanet) are a special kind of Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (manet) adapted to the communications between vehicles. Several specific protocols to vanets have been developed to improve performances and satisfy vehicular application needs. To evaluate a protocol for vanet, some realistic mobility models are needed. Unfortunately, such models are not provided by Opnet Modeler. I...
An ad hoc network of vehicles (VANET) consists of vehicles that exchange information via radio in order to improve road safety, traffic management and do better distribution of traffic load in time and space. Along with this it allows Internet access for passengers and users of vehicles. A significant characteristic while studying VANETs is the requirement of having a mobility model that gives ...

Research in Vehicular Networks (VNs) has found in simulation the most useful method to test new algorithms and techniques. This is mainly due to the high cost of deploying such systems in real scenarios. When simulating vehicular environments, two different issues must be addressed: mobility and wireless communications. Regarding mobility, several mobility pattern generators have been proposed ...
Public urban mobility systems are composed by several transportation modes connected together. Most studies in urban mobility and planning often ignore the multi-layer nature of transportation systems considering only aggregated versions of this complex scenario. In this work we present a model for the representation of the transportation system of an entire city as a multiplex network. Using t...
Due to mobility constraints and high dynamics, routing is a more challenging task in VANETs. In this work, we evaluate the performance of the routing protocols in vehicular network environment. The objective of this work is to assess the applicability of these protocols in different vehicular traffic scenarios. Both the position-based and topology-based routing protocols have been considered fo...
We study through simulation the performance of two MANET routing algorithms in a realistic urban environment. The two algorithms, AODV and AntHocNet, are representative of two different approaches and design methodologies. AODV is a a reference state-of-the-art algorithm following a purely reactive approach. AntHocNet is based on swarm intelligence and integrates proactive and reactive mechanis...
Recently, researchers have discovered that many of social, natural and biological networks are characterized by scale-free powerlaw connectivity distribution and a few densely populated nodes, known as hubs. We envision that wireless networks are directly deployed over such real-world networks to facilitate communication among participating entities. Here nodes move in such a way that they exhi...
