A great deal of late bidding has been observed on internet auctions such as eBay, which employ a second price auction with a fixed deadline. Much less late bidding has been observed on internet auctions such as those run by Amazon, which employ similar auction rules, but use an ending rule that automatically extends the auction if necessary after the scheduled close until ten minutes have passe...
The small 62-residue IgG-binding domain B1 of protein L from Peptostreptococcus magnus (Ppl-B1) has proven to be a simple system for the study of the thermodynamics and kinetics of protein folding. X-ray diffraction studies have been initiated in order to determine how the thermostability, folding and unfolding rates of a series of point mutations spanning Ppl-B1 correlate with the high-resolut...
Arsenic is the chemical element that has the symbol As, atomic number 33 and atomic mass 74.92. Arsenic was first documented by Albertus Magnus in 1250.[4] Arsenic is a notoriously poisonous metalloid with many allotropic forms, including a yellow (molecular non-metallic) and several black and grey forms (metalloids). Three metalloidal forms of arsenic, each with a different crystal structure, ...

We report a case of Finegoldia magna (formerly known as Peptostreptococcus magnus) mediastinitis following coronary artery bypass in a 50-year-old patient. Even if staphylococci remain the main causative organism of postoperative mediastinitis, the responsibility of anaerobic bacteria must be considered in cases of fever and sternal drainage with negative blood cultures.
The spinal serotoninergic projection from the raphe magnus has been shown to modulate nociceptive inputs, and activation of this projection mediates nicotine-elicited analgesia. Here, we investigate the interactions between cholinergic and serotoninergic systems in the spinal cord, by conducting serotonin [5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT)] efflux experiments on mouse spinal slices. At least three spi...
Solving a time-dependent linear differential equation towards obtaining evolution operators is a central problem in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance. To this end, average Hamiltonian theory and Floquet theory have been the two commonly used theoretically methods in spin dynamics of NMR. We recently introduced the Floquet-Magnus expansion approach and here, we present the methodology of po...
