We propose a kind of anisotropic gradient-index (GRIN) metamaterials, which can be used to control differently-polarized waves independently. The use of subwavelength grating structures in silicon waveguides have fuelled the development integrated optical components with superior performance. By a judicious lithographic patterning grating, properties synthesized metamaterial can be accurately tailored.
